The Sellouts

This is going to be a rant similar to the one on my personal blog. It concerns the Iowa State Legislature, both the House and the Senate. You see this week the legislature in all their infinite wisdom decided to repeal the Local Option Sales Tax across the state. Now I am all for cutting taxes, I believe that Iowans are overtaxed as it is. However that is not where our story ends, no the legislature replaced LOST with a statewide sales tax increase of one percent. Now many of you may not see one percent as an amount to get in an uproar about, but I see it differently. The first problem is that the passage of this bill takes away from us as citizens the ability to vote on a referendum about the rate of taxation. The other problem that I have with this bill is that a great number of Iowa Congressional Republicans sold out to the ignorance of the Democrat majority. These Republicans flushed Iowa’s citizens desire to keep taxes down. They told their constituents that they no longer mattered what we did. Evidently they think that we have a short memory span or that we are stupid. Oh wait a good portion of the state is, after all we voted these political misfits into office in the first place.
Of course these nitwits that turned their backs on us need to be taught a lesson, they need to be taken to the woodshed so to speak. If each of us would only write to our congressman and tell them that you are disappointed with their actions. Tell them that November is coming soon and that there are other options.
