Three Ring Circus

Well time for my first post on here. I have been going over some of the research on the candidates over at the Iowa Brigade site. I have been going over the information on the three Republican candidates for Iowa 2nd Congressional District who are vying the opportunity to challenge Democratic Incumbent Dave Loesback. You would think that with this type of competition that you would have one good conservative candidate amongst the challengers for this nomination. Well guess what, in my honest opinion, the candidates in this race more closely resemble the clowns that one would see at a three ring circus. Let us examine these candidates a little more closely.

Marianette Miller-Meeks is a RINO in the purest sense of the word. She has only recently become a Republican, perhaps this is because as a Democrat she couldn’t hope to defeat Loesback in a Democratic nomination. This is definitely a disturbing piece of information. She has shown no indication that she would support the Republican Party platform, after all, if she did that she couldn’t support abortion. Another disturbing development comes from her website, she fails to make any mention of some core conservative principles. There was no mention of her stance on abortion, no position taken on family issues, and no mention of education. There is no indication that she would advocate for a these traditional Iowa values. The core issues for Ms. Miller-Meeks; according to her website; are pushing for a regional healthcare system, reform social security, revitalize the GI bill, reconstruct the tax code, security, energy, environment, and economy. This does not seem to be a platform that promotes traditional Iowa values.

Peter Teahen is the next candidate on our hit list. On the outside Teahen seems to be the type of candidate that real Iowa conservatives can support. But once you get into the meat of his positions he just another wannabe that is posing as a Republican. It has been brought to light that he changes his party affiliation like most people change their undies. In addition it has also been determined that he has donated funds to the campaign of a Democratic candidate for Congress. Hmmm. Does this sound like someone that should be attempting to win the nomination for a Republican seat. Then we come to Mr. Teahen’s positions on issues on his website. The following are the issues that are important to him; elimination of wasteful spending, tax cuts, securing Americas borders, energy independence, commitment to military service personnel, elimination of the Death Tax, line item veto authority for the President, smaller government, and health care reform. As you can see Mr. Teahen’s list of issues does not cover traditional Iowa values. Perhaps Mr. Teahen is actually related to Ms. Miller-Meeks.

Now we will go over Lee Harder. You would think that with the first two candidates that I discussed turned out to be RINO’s, you would assume that Mr. Harder would be the one good candidate in the bunch. I don’t believe that to be the case here. Yes Mr. Harder does hold that abortion is wrong no matter what the situation. This is a truly Iowa value, but I feel that there is other things that disqualify Mr. Harder from the seat that he is attempting to run for. The other issues that he feels strongly about include supporting the War on Terror, energy security, securing the border, freedom, and the right to keep and bear arms. He does have one position that coincides with traditional values, however I do feel that because he lacks the other two he is a less desirable candidate. In addition to this Mr. Harder has taken a page out of the Mitt Romney playbook by attacking his opponents on a variety of issues. This is a big turnoff as most Iowans appreciate a cleanly run campaign that highlights the candidates ideas and plans rather than their opponents negative aspects.

After researching these candidates I came to the conclusion that there really is no candidate in the District 2 race that is worth supporting. Miller-Meeks might as well be a Democrat, the same can be said for Teahen, while Harder seems to think that he is a little Mitt Romney. When will the Iowa GOP get a clue and recruit candidates that people will want to vote for, because these three are the three largest clowns in the three ring circus.

Operation Extinction

Yesterday WHO radio personality Steve Deace launched Operation Extermination. This objective is going to be an open ended campaign to cleanse the State of Iowa’s government of RINO’s and Christian Democrats. This operation is our opportunity to return fire at the false conservatives. The goal of Operation Extinction is to achieve, as Steve puts it, the highest body count possible.

How does one wage this political war? That is simple, the complete purging of those unworthy of our support. We must withhold our support without regard to the outcome for the Republican Party of Iowa. If the Republicans lose more seats to the Democrats, then so be it. They will learn that we will not just fall in line and support whatever candidate they throw out there. This means that yes we will be having a Democrat elected in US House District 3. Their opponent Kim Schmett is a RINO so we should not support him. This is just one of the FACO’s (false conservatives) that are out there. You can tell a FACO by who they have supported in the past, who supports their candidacy, who they have made political contributions to, and who has contributed money to them. This is going to be arduous task, but it is something that must be done for the future generations of Iowa children. We MUST prevail, we cannot surrender. To do so would be to give up all that we hold dear. This battle will not be easy and it will not be short, but it is important nonetheless.

So please stand with us. Be a soldier in the battle to preserve traditional Iowa values. I will see you on the front lines.

Political Civil War

The drumbeats of war continue to escalate in the Republican Party of Iowa. Day by day, minute by minute the tempo increases. Sides are being taken. Lines are being drawn. Strategies are being formulated. And one side doesn’t even know what is going on. They think that nothing is wrong, They think that the status quo is fine with the rank and file. What they do not know is that Iowa conservatives are tired of being ignored.

The opening shots in this political civil war were fired when the Iowa legislature debated and ultimately passed a ban on smoking in what they term public places. Now most reasonably sane individuals would assume that this meant government owned facilities. Not in this case. In this case the public places are privately owned and operated businesses or in some cases homes. I don’t really want to get into the specifics of the bill. I simply want to show that this type of bill flies in the face of conservatism in that it restricts the freedom of the businesses patrons, but it also infringes on the business owners ability to decide the policies of the business. This bill had absolutely no chance to be passed. The Democrats did not have enough votes to get this bill through the statehouse. The only reason that it did make it through the Iowa House and the Iowa Senate is because Republicans turned and voted for it. Hence the opening shot.

Shot number two came a little bit later. The Democrats in the Iowa Legislature decided that Iowans were not being taxed enough so they decided that they wanted to repeal the Local Option Sales Tax, a tax that some Iowa voters were okay with and others weren’t. Well Gronstal and his lackeys on Capital Hill came up with a plan that would repeal the LOST and replace it with a statewide 1% sales tax increase. In one swoop they told the voters of Iowa that they were too stupid to decide whether they are being taxed enough. Guess what, once again the Democrats did not have the clout to get this bill through the legislature. So of course Iowa’s Benedict Arnold impersonators came to the rescue again. The false conservatives helped the Dems oppress us even more.

Shot number three came at the end of the session. Gronstal and his herd of trained monkeys kept spewing the garbage that we needed more money, we need to raise taxes. But then what do they do, they vote to give Iowas elected officials a raise. I mean come on, if we are in a budget crisis you do not give out raises. That does not make sense, but then again what has Gronstal done that has made sense. Once again it was false conservatives to the rescue,

I know that I am not the only one that is getting tired of having to contort themselves enough to get remove the knife from our backs. So now it is time to replace these false conservatives with real conservatives. It is time to put the Iowa GOP on notice. We need to tell them that we have had enough and it is time for a changing of the guard.  Now let the games begin.

I Will Not Be Left Out

I grew up on a dairy farm near a small Iowa town during the 70s and 80s. Life was good at the public school. There was a third grade teacher who prayed before lunch every day, my brother had a basketball coach who prayed before each game, and there was a prayer given before most school events, and that included prom. The baccalaureate and commencement services were held together at graduation time with a local pastor giving the prayer and invocation. And most importantly, we sang traditional Jesus centered Christmas songs (along with the classic Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland) and the concert was even called a Christmas concert with a “Merry Christmas” shout to the audience at the end. I think if “Happy Holidays” would’ve been shouted instead, the audience would’ve fallen off their chairs.

Why do I bring this up on a blog site dedicated to Iowa politics? It is because I want to elect people to the Iowa legislature who will bring these values from my childhood back into our society today. I don’t mean to push my beliefs on people, but to let them be expressed by people who do believe like I do. I am sick and tired of having my values trampled on because one person disagrees. What about what I disagree with or believe in? Why is what that complaining person believes more important than what I believe? Okay, let them have a voice but don’t let them be heard by taking my voice away! Hey, and wait a minute–haven’t these values and beliefs been around for a very long time? Since when don’t my values count? For example, my daughter is in Kindergarten and, of course, she has “Winter” vacation and not Christmas vacation. But there was something more disturbing to me. She brought home a packet of handouts she colored for the month of December. There were pictures of snow, stars, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Santa, presents, trees, etc….BUT NO NATIVITY SCENE???!!!! What happened to not prohibiting religion? There was no handout for the Christian celebration called Christmas. What happened in the past twenty years that changed the public school so much that there is not even one Christian symbol in a Kindergartner’s December packet but there are pictures of other religious celebrations? Come on, either take them all out or put them all in. I will fight long and hard for candidates who will put my values on the front burner. We need to have God in our society again, not to force others to believe but to respect those who do.
