Grow Up

Today was a day for relaxing after the hustle and bustle of the state convention. What should have been a day of rest and relative peace has actually turned into a series of clashes on the internet between the two factions that squared off this weekend. It isn’t the candidates for party office that are battling, but the followers, many of whom didn’t attend the caucus this weekend. There have been some moderating voices, although they have gone largely unheeded. One in particular stands out.

I commend State Representative Sandy Greiner on the graciousness and classiness that she has exhibited in her responses on the blogs. This goes to show that some of our legislators are paying attention to what their constituents are saying.

The angry voices on the internet are making all sorts of venomous comments that have no use other than to hurt. It is time for the divisiveness to stop and time for the healing to start, perhaps it is also time for some gestures of goodwill from the new leadership. I hope this will come to pass, but as I don’t have the ear of the new leadership, I can only hope that they read this blog and take heed.

Now back to the petty squabbles that are appearing on the blogs, please ladies and gentlemen grow up. Act like intelligent adults instead of spoiled little children. You must remember that we can’t always get our way. If we could we wouldn’t be suffering the indignities of a Democrat controlled Iowa Government.

    I agree- grow up.

Today I was in the local Target store and happened to notice an older woman sitting on a bench- she might have weighed 100 pounds- but, I doubt it… and she was connected to an oxygen tank. It made me so sad to see her- just one person trying to breath.

You squabbling people that can breath without assistance- take a big gulp, be thankful that anyone cares to listen to anything you have to say- and start working hard, harder, hardest to make Iowa a better place.

    Your bickering is pathetic.

Find some positive ways to vent your obvious frustrations-
do it before you become old, bitter or even worse.

Ah yes, I love it when they believe the Christians are taking over. I believe it is just that the Christians are pointing out what issues have been forgotten for too long. All parts of the platform matter, and it is high time the party gets a wake-up call.

I can’t believe that people get so pissed off over chairs. Well, I guess the country club Republicans really have no other important issues to worry about, so why not worry about chairs?

  4. abregar says:

Thank you for the affirmation of my feeling. These people seem to forget that we have issues that we want to push that is not happening.

What is funny is that without the social conservatives, the GOP would cease to exist. Without social conservatives, GWB would have lost in 2004 and there wouldn’t have been a GOP majority in Congress in 2004. Without social conservatives, their (GOP or die group) beloved Ronald Reagan would have never been elected. HILARIOUS! And because McCain et al., are ignoring social conservatives, they will go down in November. I mean seriously, who else does any grassroots work in the party? Who else has any passion in the pary?

One day they will wake up and realized as Gov. Huckabee said that you CANNOT separate moral/social issues and economic issues. What a fun fall this will be!

Nice to have conservatives all lumped together as Bible Thumpers- NOT!

Hope people wake up to see that there are a wide variety of people supporting social concerns and working to get the Republican Party back to a great party once again.

From what I saw at the convention- we come in all shapes and sizes- and all ages. No one asked me if I was a Conservative Christian Bible Thumper. I would have gladly shared about myself. But, it is easier to be mean and name call when we can all be put in the same box- signed, sealed and delivered and with a label.

This whole thing is more than just bickering. If you would like to know the whole story, and the whole truth; my contact information is on the state party website; as the chair of clinton county.

I commend Sandy on her post to unite around electing all republicans running this year. Something we can all agree on and work together to accomplish.

  8. abregar says:

Nicole, I have already sent you that email. I have yet to receive a reply to it though. You can always send it to iowabrigade@hotmail.com also.

  9. Nicole says:

Ahh, sorry, forgot to check my spam box… going now and getting back to you asap.

  10. conservative dad says:

Yes, it would be nice if all parts of the Republican party would treat each other with respect.

  11. Used in Iowa says:

I think that each leg of the party could treat each other with respect if the stinking media would quit exagerrating things.
