Hold That Happy Meal!

The sight of the Golden Arches now will be a reminder to me that McDonald’s touts that it is in the business of being “a socially responsible organization”. Selling ‘happy meals’ in 31,000 restaurants worldwide is not enough. Their Vice President of Communication, Richard Ellis, is happy to tell us that he is “thrilled to join the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and ready to go to work.”
Did the rest of you know that the NGLCC frequently lobbies Congress on same-sex “marriage” and other aspects of the homosexual agenda? Did you know that the NGLCC website proudly lists McDonald’s, Burger King, Kodak, and AT&T among many other supporting major companies? Did you know that McDonald’s believes that in being a socially responsible organization it gives them the obligation to use their size and resources to “make a difference in the world” ?
Wow- guess now is as good of time as any to give up the fries and burgers. The pompous attitude of the big wigs at McDonald’s has just give me a SUPER SIZED case indigestion. I don’t want even a dollar of my money going to the $20,000. that McDonald’s shelled out to be a Corporate Partner and Organizational Ally and have a seat on the NGLCC board of directors.
Yet another sign of the times and one more issue to give us cause for concern. There is nothing ‘happy’ about McDonald’s thumbing their corporate noses at families who surely give them a lot of business.
I never much cared for McDonalds anyhow. I now have another reason to avoid the place.
I didn’t know any of that and I’m not very happy to learn it.
If McDonald’s went under that would mean families would have to eat together around the dinner table more. What a blessing. Please see “Too Many and Not Enough” post by palmofdeborah.
Since July 3 the American Family Association has attempted to boycott McDonald’s after McDonald’s refused their request to withdraw public support from the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.
Jan Mickelson on WHO radio was discussing this development with McDonald’s during his program today. I think people are just learning about this situation.
I have never really gotten in to boycotting a business but after learning more about what McDonald’s supports it will be easy to drive on by instead of going to the drive thru.
Wendy’s is looking better and better.
I didn’t know about Burger King, but I did know about Mcd’s.
My family now has even more reasons to skip the fast food burger joints for subway. The hard part is explaining it to the 6 yr old why we aren’t going to mcd’s or bk to play during lunch time with friends.
oh, and another thing… boycotting got Ford and walmart to change their tune… but I’m still not buying fords if I can help it.
Wendy’s and Subway it is!!! TheFord boycott is having some effect. I am still not buying Fords either. McDonalds is counting on consumers not hearing about this or they are expecting them to be apathetic and ambivalent, like they are about politics in general. Did Ford change their tune?
I am going to round up all of my evil, morally corrupt gay friends and we are going to eat lots of McDonald’s!!!
Nina, nowhere does the author call homosexuals evil. The author simply does not want to spend money in a place that supports homosexuality when there are people in the world that are starving. If McDonalds wants to spend some of their money on a good cause, why not try to help those in Africa that don’t have enough food to eat.
By the way go ahead and eat as much McDonalds as you want. Perhaps we will see you and your friends on the biggest loser because your weight will skyrocket.
This is what you call a “traditional value” — bigotry and hate towards gay people who just want to get married and be left alone by hateful bigots? Really? What’s traditional about that? What’s the value? Thank God — and I do everyday — more people are returning to REAL traditional values of good citizenship, kindness towards neighbors, charity, responsible business ethics and community service. You ought to be ashamed for this nonsense.
I don’t believe one needs to feel ashamed for stating an opinion that they will not eat at McDonald’s because they do not agree on how that business spends their profits.
There is disagreement on your part about responsible business ethics.
Therese, that is where you have us wrong. We don’t hate homosexuals. No we pity them.
As far as McDonalds goes, we don’t think that a business should be spending it’s profit in this fashion. If they want to spend that money, they do have employees that can barely survive on the wages that they pay. Or there are homelss shelters that would welcome any help at all. As long as McDonalds spends money in such a foolhardy fashion then we shall campaign against it.
