Maybe we are supposed to pay for illegal immigrants’ healthcare even though they have broken the law because “It’s only fair.” After all, we pay for the health care of U.S. citizens who have broken the law—heck, we even fund sex change surgery for “sick” people in our prisons.

Things are turned upside down in more ways than one. I just don’t see how we can keep throwing good money after bad. At some point, you just have to cut your losses.

This is insane.

Perhaps I have just heard too much for too long- but it seems to me that the politicians say whatever they think will sound good about immigration to the particular group they are speaking to- and duck questions on this issue from the media.

The immigration topic was on the “front” burner prior to the Iowa Caucus but it had faded away… until the Postville story.

I can only hope the pot simmers and starts to boil so that we can get the laws enforced. Iowa can take leadership on immigration, tho I do not know if any of the presidential candidates are up to the task.

Hmmmm….I thought Baldwin might have got his stuff together a little bit better than that. As for as Barr goes, isn’t there something “funky” about his stance on some conservative issues? I’m sure abregar will clear that up for us. Any one know how these people are polling in Iowa?

From what I have seen, the candidates from the two major parties, when campaigning, are steering clear of the immigration issue whenever possible.

I am not sure I understand the reasoning behind Barr’s desire for U.S. taxpayers to subsidize healthcare for illegal immigrants….Seems like those of us in this country who want healthcare have enough trouble paying for our own—if our taxes are going to pay for ANYbody’s healthcare surely it should for us? Or am I misconstruing what Barr says?
