Picking (or picking on) Palin

As a voter who had worked for and hoped for a different Republican Presidential candidate- even VP candidate, the selection by McCain of Sarah Palin was both a disappointment and a relief. Mike Huckabee was not selected but neither was Romney and a few other less than desirable people. The wait for the announcement seemed like forever but we have it now.
My take on the VP pick: I am just one voter but I loved her speech. Plain and simple. It inspired me and motivated me to keep on keeping on. In one speech she won my heart.
But, already, the pundits and others are coming out swinging. Just now I heard a Democrat spokeswoman say she is “very sorry” for Palin as she is paraded out into campaigning where she is not ready to be in the big leagues.
Next up was a man who wanted us to know that Palin has an “extreme record of pro life”.
Add all of this to the stats out that Palin was a mayor of a small town… have heard from 6,000 to 9,000 people.
I am getting the picture: it is not okay to have a VP who is pro life, governed a small town, and is a woman.
The Democrats are barking up a dead tree if they think it will scare a lot of voters that someone is extreme because they are pro life, worked to make a small town a better place to live, and think that because someone has not worked in D.C. makes them any less of a woman.
Barely a few hours from the announcement the Picking on Palin has started and I am sure that more will follow. This is politics but from what I heard from Palin during her speech, I say she is ready for the big leagues. I trust her to use her best judgement and to have character. These traits may not matter to everyone but they matter to me.
Go for it Sarah Palin. My vote is now yours.
I must say that I am glad that McCain picked Sarah Palin for his running mate. I have been wavering. Undecided on who to vote for in the presidential race. I liked McCain, but I had reservations about his intentions. Because of his choice of running mate I can now safely say that I support McCain for President.
McCain/Palin 08
A great Christian woman just like Deborah in the Bible. GRAND SLAM! John McCain is still the maverick. McCain/Palin ’08
Score! Touch Down! Grand Slam!
“I am getting the picture: it is not okay to have a VP who is pro life, governed a small town, and is a woman.”
This is much of what I’m hearing too. I heard her in a long segment being interviewed last night. She was very knowledgeable, genuine, articulate and solid. I think she is just as likely to step in as president if need be as I think she is grounded and would surround herself with great American leaders to make things go on as we would all want.
Good for McCain! Good for America!
I would clarify- it must not be okay to be a REPUBLICAN woman VP nominee. That was to be the spot for a democrat until they muffed it up.
Palin is a breath of fresh air and long over due to have someone like her represent us common, bitter, Bible believn’, gun toting, small town citizens of the Good Ole U S of A!
I trust her more because she is not from D.C.
She has my vote, as well!!!!!!
Talk at work today was Palin. If nothing else, the conversation is off Obama’s spectacle of a speaking engagement.
I have been waiting for someone like Sarah. Turning on the TV and seeing her is just awesome!
I hear some of the left-leaning blogs are saying baby Trig is not hers, but her daughter’s and that they are covering it up. Pathetic.
It has become more than picking on- it has become piling on and it gets worse by the minute. If this were a FB game there would be a penalty.
The more the pile on the more I will work for Sarah Palin.
The world needs more Sarah Palins and I won’t let the media influence me otherwise!
And I hear via cable news that Obama is sending out the big gun Democrat women to let us all know that Palin is not worthy of being a candidate.
Women are very good at picking apart other women. This won’t be a pretty sight. I hope enough reasonable women will come to Sarah’s defense.
I really wish that voters would be given a chance to decide on their own if Palin deserves their vote. Personally, I do not need Hillary and other so called feminists trying to tell me what I should think of Sarah Palin. I can, will and have been doing my own thinking!
