A lesson learned from Don Fowler’s God comment

I will admit to being totally disgusted as I watched the youtube version of former DNC chairman Don Fowler talk about Gustav the hurricane striking during the Republican Convention.
Mr. Fowler is chuckling and saying “The timing… be there Monday… that just demonstrates that God’s on our side.” Then he said “Everything’s cool”….
Yes, I was disgusted, sad… I had lots of feelings when I watched that video and even more upon reflection.
In all honesty, watching the video forced me to focus in on my own actions. I will admit that I thought it might be nice if it rained on Obama’s big speech at the end of the Democratic Convention. While I did not pray for it, the thought did cross my mind. Unkind of me.
And more importantly, what happened to Don Fowler being caught saying his God remarks, needs to be a lesson to me that people do pay attention to what I say, how I say it- pay attention to what I do. Do my actions reflect my words?
I hope both Don Fowler and callmecrusader will decide it is more important to focus on being vertical, focus on the issues and not try to rain on someone’s parade. I won’t be on airplane with some other passenger waiting for me to say something rude and I am not an important national political leader. I am just one citizen who had a wake up call and have decided I must show more character in what I say and do.
Thank you for the reminder callmecrusader. Vertical politics is important!
