There are more ways to support a candidate than with money.

And you give us a lot of credit to say we are tearing our party apart. If the Iowa GOP continues down this road of not supporting candidates and ignoring the very people who make up "the party" they are the ones who are doing in Republicans.

Pathetic... now, that would be the lack of leadership from the GOP.

And, for the record, there are actual voters who believe that Reed is a 'quality candidate'!!

REPEAT, REPEAT. MONEY IS NOT THE ISSUE. The issue is Reed's own party telling people not to support him. The RPI can put their money where they please, but they have no right to discourage individuals from supporting a candidate. Why is this so hard to understand? I cannot make it any clearer than that. Let the people decide.

Take a look at Reed's disclosure reports. He's raised what, $15,000? That's parhetic. State House and Senate campaigns have raised more than this. The Iowa GOP has to put their money where they can win. Unfortunately, this round we don't have a quality candidate. If he can't even pull his own weight, why should the Iowa GOP spend all of their kitty to support him and be forced to neglect House and Senate races where the money can go further and are winnable? I dislike Harkin as much as the next gal, but the fact is he has raised over $6 mil without even trying. With a quality candidate I believe we can take him out, but this isn't the year we can beat Harkin. This isn't entirely Reed's fault, it's a bad year for Republican candidates everywhere. Please stop tearing our party apart for making a strategic decision not to waste our contributions on a candidate that has virtually no chance to win.

Is it any wonder that the Republican Party of Iowa is losing out to the Democrats. With this kind of leadership the RPI looks like amateurs.

One year ago I entered into the political arena a Republican cheerleader. We all know how our candidate of choice was treated, we all know how Romney was pushed down our throat, we all know how we have been threatened to just "get along" and get McCain elected, we all know how the Republican party has accused us of being what is "wrong" with the party, and now we all know that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg on what is really "wrong" with GOP from the top down to the bottom. One would think that after a year of grassroots effort I would be even more in love with the Republican party. Nothing could be farther from the truth................I am sometimes disgusted with it. What is happening to Christopher Reed is the final indicator that our party is mortally wounded. I don't know where it will go from here. Are you guys ready for this? Can we take this party back? I think this is a prime example of having to hit rock bottom before we can rebuild.

Won't it be great to have a Senator that will not be beholden to party leadership but rather loyal to the voters who got him elected to office?!!!!! I rather like the thought! People who use knives need to be careful. I won't need a knife but my claws are sharpened and ready to go!

Leadership in the Grand ole Romney party is not really leadership. They are bullies of the worst kind and not worth our support or loyality.

Great post. Thanks for bringing to our attention the lack of leadership in the Republican Party. Maybe the big time party people really like Harkin more than we thought. Now, that is really sad!
