Iowa Voters- need another reason to vote for Christopher Reed? Ponder how Tom Harkin has stuck it to the taxpayers. That’s us! It took a few years for us to understand what he did. We  have his number now! We are all paying the price for Harkin’s successful support of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.  I did not trust Harkin before and I do not want him returned to Washington, D.C. again.

And Christopher, keep the information on Harkin coming our way. You have the support of Iowa Defense Alliance. I took the time to watch your video and was glad that I did.

REED RELEASES “YOU TUBE” VIDEO
“Your answers to the country’s financial woes. . .”

Marion – Christopher Reed, Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, today released a video on YouTube. It addresses Sen. Harkin’s role in today’s Wall Street woes.

‘It is amazing how a few words buried in an appropriations bill in 2001 are now having catastrophic effects on today’s financial world,” said Reed. He is referring to the words in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2001 in which a section of the bill are from the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 that Sen. Harkin co-sponsored.

“Sen. Harkin let Wall Street take our retirement funds to the riverboat and gamble with them. Unfortunately, they lost, and now we are having to pay for their fun and games. It is not right that they lost OUR money and now WE have to pay AGAIN to get them out of a deficit. This is not right, and government needs to change,” said Reed.

Christopher Reed is the Republican nominee running against Sen. Tom Harkin in the November 4th election. Sen. Harkin is serving his 5th term in the United State Senate. Reed won the 3-way primary in June for the right to run against Harkin, who has now served for 30 years.

The YouTube video can be viewed by searching for “Christopher Reed 2008, Iowa” on www.youtube.com. More information on candidate Christopher Reed can be viewed at www.christopherreed2008.com.

“Sen. Harkin co-sponsored S. 3283 in the 106th Congress which states, ‘to streamline and eliminate unnecessary regulation to the commodities futures exchange and other entities regulated under the Commodity Exchange Act,’ therefore allowing for what is called “credit Default Swaps,’” said Reed. “This is how companies were allowed to gamble your investments among each other, superseding any state gaming laws that were currently on the books.”

Reed continued by saying that the Washington Post and CNNMoney.com have also mentioned this legislation. “All an individual needs to do is look in the archives of these two well-known publications and they will find reference to Sen. Harkin’s legislation.”

Harkin has proven to be corrupt politician time after time with no real interest in representing the views and wishes of Iowans in general.
