Big Government Hurts Families

Liberals seem to think they own the claim to knowing what is best for America’s families. Senator Obama has eloquently illustrated this claim every day of his campaign by promising America’s families everything but a new kitchen sink. Unfortunately many so-called conservatives have started to go down the slippery slope of thinking that more government is better families (see how they framed the $750B bailout).

Disguised as compassion, the idea that more government is better for families is in fact a very cruel idea. Giving low-income families mortages at an adjustable rate for houses they cannot afford just because we want to increase home ownership–cruel. Giving low-income families government assistance without giving them necessary skills and tools to become self-sufficient–cruel. Taking control of our schools away from parents and local school districts and into the hands of the Federal government–cruel. Raising taxes on families so the government can keep from families’ what is rightfully theirs in order to “spread the wealth”–cruel. Enforcing a single-payer healthcare system so families no longer have the freedom to choose what healthcare provider they want for their family–cruel. Describing the ability to kill an unborn child as a “choice” that has no consequences–cruel.

The good thing is that we have a chance to elect officials here in Iowa who understand that big government hurts families. The candidates listed under our Operation Extinction tab understand that families function best when they are able to live free of government intervention and are self-sufficient. These candidates understand that real change does not come through government programs and intervention. I encourage all those who are concerned about Iowa’s families to check out these candidates!

Memo to Tom Harkin and Becky Greenwald

Memo to Tom Harkin: as you continue to brag about your Great American Sell Out Vote and Memo to Becky Greenwald as you shout out how you would have voted if given the chance, be aware of what Iowa taxpayers/voters had to say about the pork laden bill.

It’s too late to take back your bragging. Voters have your number. We will remember when we go to vote on Election Day. When candidates like you thumb your noses at the voters, in this current ‘crisis’, it really is a crisis and one that will cost you the prize of victory.

KCCI Poll September 2008

IOWA POLL RESULTS – SEPTEMBER 2008

GOVERNMENT BAILOUT: As you may know, Congress rejected a proposal which would have enabled the federal government to intervene and protect several major financial institutions in trouble because of high-risk mortgages that failed. This proposal would have allowed for taxpayer money to be used to help with the intervention and the price tag is estimated to total at least $700 billion. We’d like to ask you a few questions about the government’s proposal.

QUESTION: Overall, do you approve or disapprove of the Congress voting against the government’s proposal?

APPROVE DISAPPROVE NOT SURE

61%                     26%                        13%

QUESTION: Should taxpayer money be used to protect private companies from financial losses?
YES NO NOT SURE

12%             81%                  7%

Obama Thugocracy

I heard a great interview on the radio today with Michael Barone.  He talked about the current atmosphere  with Obama supporters. Americans brave enough to criticize Obama are at risk of being accused of “Obama Thugocracy”. Barone went on to relate that when people do question Obama they are being subjected to the “law of criminal libel.”

A search of Barone found the article I share below.

Americans- this is more than scary but see what YOU think:

Michael Barone writing in the Washington Times:

“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors,” Barack Obama told a crowd in Elko, Nev. “I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face.” Actually, Obama supporters are doing a lot more than getting into people’s faces. They seem determined to shut people up.

That’s what Obama supporters, alerted by campaign e-mails, did when conservative Stanley Kurtz appeared on Milt Rosenberg’s WGN radio program in Chicago. Mr. Kurtz had been researching Mr. Obama’s relationship with unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers in Chicago Annenberg Challenge papers in the Richard J. Daley Library in Chicago — papers that were closed off to him for some days, apparently at the behest of Obama supporters.

Obama fans jammed WGN’s phone lines and sent in hundreds of protest e-mails. The message was clear to anyone who would follow Mr. Rosenberg’s example. We will make trouble for you if you let anyone make the case against The One.

On another note, today I heard a reporter interview voters in some state. He asked questions if they supported Obama’s issues like staying in Iraq and other McCain supported issues (NOT Obama’s) and down to the voter they all agreed. They THOUGHT they were supporting Obama but what it showed as their ignorance. These “voters” are voting for the person NOT their beliefs in the issues.

Will there be enough knowledgeable voters to counter balance those described here and all the ones ACORN are rounding up? Please be aware of the “thugocrocy” going on. Be informed.  Tell other Americans. And understand that next time it could be you accused of “Obama Thugocrocy.”

MSNBC’s debate discussion, focus on McCain’s “big mistake”

I just could not subject myself to endure watching the MSNBC version of post debate analysis. Yet, I happened upon this news article and the disturbing words from Chris Matthews. In the first place almost anything Matthews has to say is disturbing to me. This is a given. But his words about abortion are so telling of what pro life supporters are up against. Of all the issues discussed last night, Matthews focuses on abortion and health of the mother with Andrea Mitchel chiming in.

Recently I heard a discussion with college students who stated that their age group is more informed about abortion, as in when life begins, and they do not support it. This attitude gives me hope that the pro-choice women that Matthews mentions are not the force that they once were.

Sometimes when I post about National type news I have concerns about my time spent in doing such writings. But, in the end, what happens on the national stage filters down to the state and local levels. While I can not do much to counter balance the MSNBC take on this election and their daily assault on family values issues, I can and will continue to be a voice for Iowans. We must pay attention to what is being said and done nationally so that we can work to make things better in our state and in our neighborhoods.

What the liberal media believes to be a “big mistake” is not such a big mistake to many voters.

Here is the article for your own understanding of MSNBC’s take on the debate and abortion discussion.

MSNBC’s winners: Obama, McCain, Joe the Plumber

NBC’s David Gregory — like most commentators –  quickly brought up McCain’s aggressiveness in the debate, and his memorable line distancing himself from President Bush.

Rachel Maddow agreed that McCain was “being quite spirited, quite aggressive.” But around the halfway point, she said, that “devolved into a sort of anger and discomfort,” with plenty of eye-rolling and blinking.

In the end, Maddow said that it was McCain’s worst debate yet.

Pat Buchanan, her usual sparring partner, had the opposite reaction: “I believe he had the best debate of the three.”

Buchanan said that McCain “clearly won it on points,” but isn’t sure that’s enough to overcome Obama’s lead.

Chris Matthew gave a “narrow victory” to Obama.

Matthews was adament that McCain made a “big mistake” when he “belittle[d] the health exception” for mothers in Roe v. Wade.

“It’s going to kill him with pro-choice women across the board,” Matthews said.

Andrea Mitchell agreed with Matthews that he could be hurt with women, but said that she thinks McCain won the debate.

Mike Murphy, however, gave the win to “Joe the Plumber.”

Obama’s Road to Ruin

You have probably seen this video many time by now.

It is the video in which Joe Wurzelbacher, more affectionately known as Joe the Plumber, confronts Senator Obama on his tax plan. You see Joe was planning on purchasing a small business. As a result his income will rise into what Obama calls the “rich”. Under Obama’s tax plan this hard working American would be punished for his hard work.

You will hear a lot of rhetoric coming out of Obama’s camp that he is for Main Street not Wall Street. This is really a false rhetoric that he is shoving down unsuspecting citizen’s throats. When you drive down Main Street in many Midwestern towns you will see small businesses left and right. They line the streets regardless of whether it is named Main Street or not. The fact of the matter is that a large majority of these small businesses will fall into the same income bracket as Joe the Plumber.

It is these small businesses that are excellent sources of local employment. As the bottom lines of these small businesses grow they generally hire more employees. Now what do you suppose will happen if Barack Obama were to implement his tax plan. These small businesses will be required to pay more in taxes. Supposedly to help someone less fortunate succeed, but that is another post entirely. As the tax burden rises on these small businesses because of Obama’s tax plan they will be unable to hire an employee because of the additional expenditure. Now what happens if businesses cannot create jobs? Come on I know that you can do it!!! That’s right the number of decent paying jobs are going to dwindle under Obama’s tax plan.

The short of it is that Obama’s tax plan is nothing more than a socialist fantasy. I will give Obama the benefit of the doubt and will assume that he truly has good intentions with this plan and not a desire to destroy the US. Even though I give Obama the benefit of the doubt on his intentions, I still find the plan to be repulsive. Obama’s tax plan will lead our country down a road that we do not want to travel. It is the road to ruin and it is paved with good intentions.

Obama comments on his coverage on FOX News

I checked out the Times Magazine preview and it really is a “long profile” of Barack Obama.  Obama’s comment listed below is a “choice quote”!

It seems quite something to me that Obama would high light FOX News. Honestly, almost any other network sings his praises 24/7. And, if anyone dares criticize Obama they are all but bullied into silence. Or maybe I need to say threatened.

I doubt Obama’s comments will do much to deter FOX News for reporting as they see fit. Thankfully there is one cable station that does not put out a steady love-fest for Barack Obama!

In my opinion Obama is accurate on at least some descriptions of himself. He is “elite”! He is an “arrogant liberal”.

Magazine Preview

Working for the Working- Class Vote

By MATT BAI

This article will appear in this Sunday’s Times Magazine.

In Matt Bai’s long profile of Barack Obama in the upcoming New York Times magazine, he squeezes a choice quote out of Obama to get the candidate’s true feelings about Fox News (despite his long-delayed appearance on Bill O’Reilly’s show).

“I am convinced that if there were no Fox News, I might be two or three points higher in the polls,” Obama told me. “If I were watching Fox News, I wouldn’t vote for me, right? Because the way I’m portrayed 24/7 is as a freak! I am the latte-sipping, New York Times-reading, Volvo-driving, no-gun-owning, effete, politically correct, arrogant liberal. Who wants somebody like that?”

Count down to the final debate- and more

The debate gets closer.  I am still wondering.  Wondering about what kind of questions will be asked. And while we are at it, why can’t there be a normal, every day type of American to ask the questions? Each debate seems sterile and rigged. I keep hearing the best questions being submitted by Americans and read on FOX News. Questions from actual tax payers and those who care about real every day issues.

After all this time and following these candidates on a daily basis I really don’t think I truly know them and what they stand for. It depends on which group they are talking to, or so it seems. So much of what we see is staged and controlled by “the campaign”. There are the focus groups and the selection of the right kind of clothing to wear. All the droves of media camped out. Tonight I doubt there are enough bathroom facilities for them all. Probably a long line to the toilet. Hopefully that is where Matthews and Olberman will stay for the night. Now that I think of it, I think they were demoted. (Thankful am I!)

A commenter  on Iowa Defense wrote that they were feeling “sick and tired” of all of this politics game. To that I say AMEN!

If I sound cranky I am. The last debate and not a lot of hope that I will be any more informed when it is over. Then when the spin begins. Tomorrow I will wake up and MSNBC will say that Obama won and FOX may say McCain won, oh and I can’t forget the 12 analysts who will probably all still be talking over each other to enlighten us with their views. Jeffrey Tooooobin will continue to be tooooooo much! Am sure as I am sitting here typing away that the liberal media is foaming at the mouth to put the nails in the McCain campaign coffin.

Ok, back on track with the actual debate. Maybe by next election year some bright person will host a debate moderated by a REAL person who will ask questions sent in by REAL people…. and as long as I am hoping, maybe a REAL news source will be available to retell us what we already heard.

Or maybe voters will be so intelligent that they will figure things out all on their own. Some of us are not as stupid and gulliable as the candidates and media believe us to be.

Let the debate begin…
