My 8 P.M. phone call from the Republican Party

I got my phone call last night. It was from a nice sounding young man who said he was calling from the Republican Party. He wanted to know who I would be voting for as President. After a pause I said I just didn’t know. There was another pause, this time on the other end of the line- I was assuming the caller thought I would say “McCain”. Then the question as to if I would be voting for a certain Republican candidate which was followed by my quick and cheerful answer of “absolutely”.
The young man continued with another question- what was my main issue of concern. He rattled off 4. Again I sat, my mind all jumbled up with other issues – not ones on the list. “None of these” was not a choice so I did, finally, give my answer.
I often comment that I “never” get polled. And, now I have. And I have been thinking “Big Deal!!
When is the Republican Party going to really listen to me? When we they listen to my family, friends, and co-workers who all express heartfelt concerns about where Iowa families are headed if we continue on the path to destruction? What will any polling data matter when our families go down the tubes with acceptance of immorality and big and getting bigger government with more and more bailout-handouts?
It is almost too late for this election. Voters seem to be taken in by flowery speeches, promises of more money given to them and it doesn’t seem to matter where the money will be coming from. Then there is the charm laid on by candidates wishing for our votes. I hear the interviews and what they have to say but when I look at their records or what they say they will do I think ‘here we go, more of the same’.
I do not carry a gun. I am not bitter. Yet I am determined to pay attention to what happens in IOWA politics. Starting Nov. 5, I will be one more tax payer out on a mission to hold those elected to their promises. Democrat or Republican, it doesn’t matter. It will take all of us to hold them accountable for their actions. What we join together to accomplish means more now than it ever did.
My 8 P.M. phone call probably did not matter to the caller and sadly it did not mean much to me. What will matter, what will make the difference, is what occurs post election. I will be ready.
McCain was really funny at last night’s dinner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAjAtYqczkk
I got polled once in person. The guy was condescending as ever.
