The heat is turned up in the Oval Office

A bit of news from junkscience.com:

The capital flew into a bit of a tizzy when, on his first full day in the White House, President Obama was photographed in the Oval Office without his suit jacket. There was, however, a logical explanation: Mr. Obama, who hates the cold, had cranked up the thermostat.

“He’s from Hawaii, O.K.?” said Mr. Obama’s senior adviser, David Axelrod, who occupies the small but strategically located office next door to his boss. “He likes it warm. You could grow orchids in there.”

Could this be the same Barack Obama who said last May that,

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times… and then just expect that other countries are going to say “OK”… That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

And could this be the same Barack Obama who is looking to sign a stimulus bill that would spend billions of dollars installing millions of “smart meters” that would enable your power company to prevent you from being as comfortable as Bambi on hot and cold days?

My husband would just love it if we kept our thermostat set on 72 degrees.

His cheap wife  says he must wear a sweatshirt and cover up with a blanket. Oh, and we have a cat to keep us warm.

I guess the White House does not worry about paying the heating bills or keeping to a campaign comment.

But, I do have a suggestion for President Obama: see if you can get one of those Aretha Franklin hats for warmth.

I cut firewood to keep myself warm i can’t afford to heat the house on propane alone it would cost over $2000 a winter. And after all the hard work i do to cut wood for the winter season hes gonna come along and let the power company issue smart meters to control how much heat my wood furnace will put out. I think i better find myself a old fashion wood stove that throws out heat without use of a blower then i suppose he will have someone come limit how many chunks of wood i can burn in it a day i somehow can see Al Gore knocking at my door scary thought with the carbon dioxide police to put my cozy fire out and take me to jail.

People talk about Iowa being a nanny state. We are a nanny nation and it is down right scary. There is no leadership when someone says do as I say not as I do. No respect, either.

This is the first I’d heard about his need for warmth at our expense. Maybe he should just get he and his family and White House workers some of those Snuggles as seen on tv. It seems just as bad to me to know his advisor thinks he can justify it. No sense, no sense.
