Huckabee: Saving Towns, Conservatism, and Paul Harvey’s Time Slots

Mike Huckabee completed his first stop on his “Save This Town” tour in which he visits five different cities hit hard by the economic downturn.  On Saturday he was in Elkhart, Indiana, taping his FOX News show Huckabee talking with the citizens on how they are trying to save their town.

Elkhart has the highest jobless rate at 19% and it is where President Obama first announced his Stimulus Package.  It is known as the RV capital of the world and Huckabee taped his show at the RV Hall of Fame, which had to be moved outside due to overwhelming response.

Not only is Indiana important because of its economic crises, but it is also significant on the electoral map.  Indiana, usually a red state, turned blue for Obama this past election cycle.  Huckabee gave the people of Elkhart  some conservative solutions for the failing economy, which were met with enthusiastic cheers.  The first one was to abolish the IRS and enact the Fair Tax and the second one was……

Instead of printing more money and creating hyper-inflation do something simple: Suspend the payroll tax of every business and self-employed person in the country for three months. That’s cash in the hands of the people who can best turn the economy around; the people who provide jobs and really stimulate the economy. Freeze the staffing and salaries of Congress and federal agencies to feel what American businesses are feeling.

Not only has Huckabee been dealing out his ideas for stimulating the economy but he has also been voicing his advice for saving conservatism.  He recently wrote his debut article for The Washington Times’ series “Reinventing Conservatism” where he calls for Republicans to practice what they preach and return to conservative principles.

Lastly, Huckabee’s audience for his ideas and solutions has just gotten a whole lot bigger.  ABC Radio’s The Huckabee Report, which is a five minute commentary three times a day, will now be carried by the stations that aired Paul Harvey.

When is the next book coming out?

Frank: Judge Scalia is a ‘homophobe’

Barney Frank. He just can’t get enough lime light in the news. This time he is out to get Supreme Court Justice Scalia by calling him a “homophobe.”

I have to wonder why voters elect and re-elect such a man as Barney Frank.
If I had to pick someone with character, the winner is: Judge Scalia. Not only for his views about consensual sodomy laws but because it is “very unlikely the justice would offer a response to Frank’s remark.”

Schumer now for same-sex marriage: Iowa beware!

Just so you know~ Chuck Schumer has come out for same-sex marriage. His announcement is heralded in a press release on the Empire State Pride Agenda website. On my first trip to the website I learned that this group is “Winning Equality and Justice for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender New Yorkers and Our Families.” No wonder they are right on the news of Schumer’s change of heart and backing to reverse the Defense of Marriage Act.

A portion of the Press Release:

Press Release
Senator Schumer Announces Support for Marriage Equality and Calls for the Full Repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act

Schumer becomes highest-ranking U.S. Senator to support marriage equality for same-sex couples…

Also- what I find interesting in this New York Daily News article about Chuck Schumer’s change of mind is that the writer was “pressured” to “Update” and change the title.

UPDATE: OK, so under pressure from several fronts, I have changed the title of this post to eliminate the word “flips,” which seems to be upsetting to some people as it has a “negative connotation.”
The powers-that-be prefer the idea that the senior senator, like his junior counterpart, has “evolved” on this issue…

I wish to warn Iowans that while New York seems far away the same groups that shove their gay rights agendas on the coasts have their bull’s eye target set on Iowa. We have our work cut out for us to defend marriage. I believe that Schumer caving in- flip flopping- will only make the gay rights activists hungrier for victory in Iowa.  If you do not wish to “evolve” as a state the time is now to speak up and speak out about marriage being between one man and one woman.

Out of state gay rights activists have already marked their territory in Iowa and Schumer just flipped and flopped his way to offer up more assistance for their cause.

Announcing the March ‘Porker of the Month’: Barney Frank

It is my pleasure to announce the March ‘Porker of the Month’- Barney Frank.

Good ole Barney- constantly on the news expressing his outrage, given opportunity on cable news to share his expertise on a wide variety of national financial concerns, blaming everyone and anyone but not willing to take any responsibility on his own shoulders.

‘Good ole Barney’ really is NOT good. Frank is a symbol of what is wrong with those that represent (?!) us in Washington, D.C. But, I don’t get the chance to vote him out so can only highlight his latest honor.

I share the first part of the article below.

Porker of the Month is a dubious honor given to lawmakers, government officials, and political candidates who have shown a blatant disregard for the interests of taxpayers.

CAGW Names Rep. Barney Frank March Porker of the Month
Washington, D.C. – Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today named House Financial Services  Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) its March 2009 Porker of the Month.  The chairman, having somehow eluded this dubious award in the past, finally delivered enough of Barney’s blarney to be recognized, appropriately, on St. Patrick’s Day.
