Grassley talking – The Washington Times reporting

In an article called “Grassley: Obama budget is step toward socialism”, Charles Grassley is talking and The Washington Times is reporting. The lengthy article is here.

I share a portion of the article that was interesting to me. We can’t go back and change the votes of the very first porkulus bill, but as an American and as a taxpayer I certainly hope that Mr. Grassley gets somewhere with his three-year budget spending freeze!

It is very hard to not hold a grudge for how Grassley voted for the first spending spree even after Iowa taxpayers begged, pleaded, called and e-mailed for him to say NO. But, Grassley has much to say about what is happening in Washington now. I for one, am paying attention.

Mr. Grassley needs to know that Iowans continue to watch and care deeply about what he says and does. And how he votes!

From the article:

Mr. Grassley also revealed he is rallying support in the Senate for a three-year budget spending freeze to rein in the federal deficit and show taxpayers Washington was capable of living within its means in times of economic sacrifice.

“It would be a way of showing the conservatism of our fiscal policy,” he said.

it is too late a spending freeze will not help. We have to cut spending and repeal the damaging spending bills.

I do hold a grudge against Grassley and frankly, it is much too little too late.

  2. DannBoy says:

I would love to be able to cheer on Grassley, but I keep having flashbacks to the bailout bill. Why or why couldn’t he stand his ground then? It was a bailout for billionaires for crying out loud.

  3. RalphR says:

As for Grassley it’s too little too late for spending. He has his work cut out for him now if he is going to stop the socialism that takes over more with each passing day. I will never think the same of Grassley after he voted on the first stimulus bill.

  4. Jerry says:

DannBoy criticizes the bailout vote, while RalphR hates the stimulus vote.

I’m with DannBoy. But we’re too late now. The bailout of bank billionaires is pretty well set up by Paulson’s protege at Treasury.

  5. All4Iowa says:

I’m against both the bailout and the stimulus. What’s the difference? They both spread tax payers money around.

  6. Jerry says:

The bailout doesn’t spread it around! That money all goes to gamblers to pay off their loses in the Wall Street casino.

The stimulus keeps teachers employed and keeps the rent paid for the unemployed while the bankers screw us over.. Surely you can see the difference.

    • Iowans Rock says:

What I see, Jerry, is that you are for anything Democrats do and against anything Republicans do. You focus on right vs. left and not right vs. wrong.

Paying a lazy person’s rent is the same as paying for a greedy person’s bailout. There is no difference. Surely you can see that they are both handouts using tax payers’ money.

    • taco says:

It sounds like both are sucking on the hind tit of a dead cow as neither are productive. If they were productive they wouldn’t be needing bailouts/welfare.
