Iowa Family Policy Center has sent out this action alert:

Thank you for your interest in protecting marriage!

The Iowa House DOES have time to pass the Iowa Marriage Amendment, also known as HJR 6.

HJR 6 is the first step toward giving Iowans the chance to vote to protect marriage, in response to the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling.

In order to debate HJR 6, the House must force it out of committee with a procedural vote. The House Republicans are prepared to initiate this procedural vote, but to pass it we need your help!

We only have 43 votes, and we need 51 to pass the procedural vote so HJR 6 can be voted on. Please contact the House Democrats listed below, and tell them to vote to bring HJR 6 out of committee.

THERE ARE NO LEGITIMATE EXCUSES FOR VOTING AGAINST THIS CRITICAL PROCEDURAL VOTE! In this case, a “no” vote on procedure is a “no” vote on traditional marriage.

The following Democrats have indicated they support traditional marriage. Therefore, they SHOULD vote to bring the IMA out of committee. Call AND email them repeatedly until they commit! You may also consider knocking on their door.

Be ready to stand up for your civil liberties

As Iowa Defense Alliance has come to know on a personal basis, government officials such as Iowa DOT can stop citizens and subject them to lengthy questioning and emotional suffering.

Now there is news of a citizen being subjected to questioning about a box of money in his possession. There is much to this story, from the push by the state of Missouri to target political groups to all Americans knowing what their rights are and when necessary know how to deal with an ugly situation when it happens.

Here are the basics of what transpired to a supporter of Ron Paul.

TSA detains official from Ron Paul group
“Militia members most commonly associate with third-party political groups,” said the report, issued Feb. 20 by the Missouri Information Analysis Center. “It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitution Party, Campaign for Liberty or Libertarian material. These members are usually supporters of former presidential candidates Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr.”

Mr. Bierfeldt was carrying Campaign for Liberty bumper stickers and other campaign literature, and was interrogated by TSA screeners and airport police at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport for nearly a half-hour before being allowed on his flight to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Mr. Paul, a U.S. House member and honorary chairman of the grass-roots lobbying organization, said he was “rather shocked” by the incident.
“This sort of encounter is a sign of bad things to come,” said the Texas Republican and 2008 presidential-primary contender.
“People need to know their rights, and law enforcement officers, even if their intentions are noble, should never be allowed to bully and detain law-abiding citizens,” Mr. Paul said. “Steve´s experience is a prime example of how our liberties are in real peril and that we need to wake up to what’s going on in our country.”

If interested there are two videos that you might find enlightening that highlight protecting 5th Amendment rights.

In a brilliant pair of videos, , Prof. James Duane of the Regent University School of Law and Officer George Bruch of the Virginia Beach Police Department present a forceful case for never, ever, ever speaking to the police without your lawyer present. Ever. Never, never, never.

As Mr. Paul states “our liberties are in real peril.”

First it was an Iowa Defense Alliance member. Now it is a Ron Paul supporter. Next it could be you.

The time is now to know your rights and be prepared when it IS you!
