Gay rights activists at work in Iowa

Iowans- What are your thoughts after reading the Washington Post article “Gay marriage ruling followed careful campaign”?
Here is a portion of the article:

Gay marriage ruling followed careful campaign

When taking the legal route, the activists identify same-sex couples to bring “test” cases, typically after meeting and spending time with scores of couples. They prepare the selected couples for what is likely to be intense, sometimes harsh, media attention. They study the state’s constitution and review past court rulings, waiting to move until they feel the political and legal climate is favorable.

When taking the legislative route, the activists first get to know the political dynamics to identify friendly and potentially friendly lawmakers. They find residents to call lawmakers to express support for same-sex marriage. They start phone banks and launch petition drives. And, as with the court action, they wait until they believe the chances for success are good.

Socially conservative groups opposed to same-sex marriage say the activists are using the courts and legislatures because they’re afraid to put ballot measures before voters. Using these routes is “most certainly not fair to the voters – and it’s not fair to the people of Iowa and Vermont,” said Carrie Gordon Earll, a spokeswoman for Focus on the Family.

I for one am feeling used.

Used by the politicians who have taken money from the gay rights/sodomy marriage groups.

Used by those who say they believe that marriage is between one man and one woman but are doing nothing to stop the gay rights cancer that is invading Iowa.

While most of us were busy being citizens of Iowa- working, paying taxes, raising a family and volunteering in our communities the gay rights people invaded our state the past seven years and were “deliberate” in their goal to make sodomy marriage legal in Iowa.

By Governor Culver and the Iowa Legislature caving into the Liberal Iowa Supreme Court making their ‘opinion’ the law in Iowa we are in an even more grueling battle.

The battle includes the war waged on the internet. I share from a site that has a post entitled “Time is on our side…yes it is!”

…What does that mean?  Well, as it has been proven by at least two independent studies, Prop 8 passed in California mostly because of the older population.  Most of these Right Wing haters are old.  Most of the people who pay their salaries are old and at the risk of sounding completely negative myself, one of the sure things in life is that life comes to an end for all of us.
Wise men and women have often said “all good things come in time”.  I can only hope that with time, as these old, white, nasty people start to retire, their nasty old attitudes will not be replaced by people who think along the same lines as they do.
Whether or not time actually does heal all wounds, and whether or not good things will come to the LGBT community in time, I can’t help but to believe that time may be on our side, as these less tolerable people continue to just go away.

While the post goes against what I think and believe, it is an opinion that I read to be that all of the old, white and nasty people (this includes Iowans) will die off and (hopefully) be replaced by younger people with acceptance of the gay lifestyle which includes sodomy marriage.

April 27th approaches. Another day in the battle against same sex marriage and all that it means for Iowans- from what is taught in our schools and where out of state money is spent to elect (or defeat) Iowa candidates for public office.

Yes, it is a battle. Wake up Iowans. The battle has come to your door step.  This is not about a nice homosexual person in your workplace or who is your neighbor. This is about the gay rights agenda and gay rights activists who have worked for years to have their way in Iowa.

I for one will not let someone who labels me as “old, white, and nasty” have their voice heard over mine. What say you, my fellow Iowans?

I didn’t know Iowa had Naval ships?

I have a fear that for the 2010 election the gay activists will pur money into Kent Sorenson’s district to knock him out since he was fighting tooth and nail for the marriage amendment. (Just like what happened to Danny Carroll.)

  3. tough cookie says:

I say people who value what Sorenson did better start now working to get him re-elected. The man is too good to be forced out of office by out side money.

Don’t you understand that gay people are born gay? It’s NOT a “lifestyle choice” – it’s not a choice at all. If all people are created equal by their creator, then how can you deny equality to them in civil society. Who is harmed when two adults, any two adults, love each other? And if two adults are in love, why should they be denied the civil rights that come with marriage? This is a fundamental issue of traditional American equality, the concept that our country was founded on and the fundamental core of the Iowa constitution that the judges followed. It’s certainly not their “opinion” that all people should be treated equally under the law. In the 1960s the US Supreme Court declared inter-racial marriage bans unconstitutional even though in most Southern states 70% or more of the people thought it was a crime against God and nature. Since gay people are born gay, naturally they deserve the same equality that all Iowans enjoy.

The homosexual lifestyle is a choice. Just like every other destructive lifestyle choices we make throughout our lives. And why are you being discriminatory by saying “two adults” when talking about marriage? What about those that love their sibling or those that are in love with a child or those that love two women and want two wives? Don’t they “deserve the same equality that all Iowans enjoy?”

      • Life Liberty and the Pursuit.... says:

If you think being gay is a choice you obviously don’t know anyone who is gay. The comment “discriminatory” regarding adults is absurd because marriage is a civil contract between two adults. In Saudi Arabia they abuse children through marriage but not in Iowa. The issue of polygamy and incest that you discuss has nothing to do with two adults who want the right of civil marriage. Your post is a classic example of the misinformation, distortions and exaggerations that are used to trick people into believing the issue is anything more than that of basic equal rights. Equal means equal. Equal does not mean separate. It does not mean more or less. Equal means equal. Simple equality which is one of the founding principles of this great nation. Equality is something that some people in this nation have tried hard to prevent – slavery, anti-semitism, anti-irish/italian immigrants during the early 20th century. Now the bigotry is focused on gay people. Talk to a gay parent or the parent of a gay child, then you will understand that people are born gay.

        • Iowans Rock says:

How little you know about me. Take your own advice and you talk to the parents of a gay child.

That’s so sad. Someone has actually exploited those people’s loss of their son for their own bigoted gains. That’s unconscionable to have those poor parents exploited like this. It’s unimaginable the lows that bigots will go to, to provide lies and misinformation. Although in the South, in the 60s, in Mississippi, police were involved in the murder of three people who were trying to register black people to vote. History continues to show that those who harbor hate and feel the need to share it will stop at nothing. If their son said any of those things to them, he did it to spare their feelings, not wanting them to thing they caused him to be gay. But most importantly the money spent on this absurd attempt at misinformation, could have been spent on helping starving children. 78 million on prop 8 – that could feed an entire nation of starving children in Africa. Christianity is about love, but the money spent on hate in this country alone could wipe out poverty in the entire world. To understand what it actually means to be the parent of a gay child you should visit http://www.pflag.org.

Although this post will no doubt be deleted as well, in typical ignorant bigot tradition, a post that was made, deploring the exploitation of those parents was deleted. And like we have seen on you tube with the audition tapes for the fake doctors and teachers, the most horrible thing is we don’t even know if these are actors or real people who suffered a loss. But by deleting the last post, the webmaster of this site has proven without a question that the hatred spewed against individuals who are born left handed, I’m sorry, I mean with blue eyes, no, sorry, I mean gay, individuals who are born gay, is completely without merit, as all hatred has been shown throughout history.

Listen here moron. You need to understand that the administrators on this site have lives other than working on this blog. Just because your post wasn’t approved immediately doesn’t mean that it was deleted. It just means that we haven’t had time to moderate it in. Now I do believe that you owe us an apology for your uninformed rant.

You are HYSTERICAL! The absolute POSTER CHILD for bigotry and ignorance, unable to actually grow as a person, open up to the possibility that you are wrong, only interested in lies and manipulation. Is Rush Limbaugh your step father? LOL!! The only good thing though which history has shown us is that bigots always lose in the end, at least in America. Our first black president sits in the white house, and soon our first gay president will sit their with his husband (or her wife). Hopefully you live to see it, you may not be such a bigot by then.

Are you not tolerant of MY opinion or lifestyle? Why are you questioning the parents in that video? For your information these parents let that story be known in the Des Moines Register after the same-sex marriage ruling in Iowa. No one expoited them. They themselves wanted to get their message out. Now who is the bigot? Someone stands up to you with some proof and you leave three hateful posts. Perfect examply of tolerance on your own terms.

And no, we did not delete any of your comments. I’m sorry it took us a mere couple of hours to approve them but we have lives to live over here. For the record, the only comments we have deleted since starting this blog have been the racist ones against President Obama.

Sorry, being born a particular race and choosing a certain life stlye are nowhere close to being comparible. How embarassing for you that you believe that a whole race being treated like property and being bought and sold and even killed is comparible to those in the homosexual lifestyle who do not get a piece of paper validating their behavior.

Thank you for watching the video.

You are so very free with your bigot word.

Funny (hysterical) how bigots work and you should know.

  8. DannyBoy says:

Why doesn’t Tim Gill use his money to save starving children instead of funding pieces of paper for homosexuals?
