Wall of Shame for Matt Strawn?
I wrote an earlier post criticizing Matt Strawn and the RPI’s lack of action in regards to the Iowa Supreme Court’s ruling on the Defense of Marriage Act. It seemed to me that this issue exploded the grassroots and the activists while bringing out warriors in the Republican political class. Instead of capitalizing on this renewed enthusiasm of the people and highlighting the politicians who were taking a principled stance, we heard crickets chirping from the RPI. In fact, in the last two Chairman Reports Mr. Strawn did not even mention the fight for traditional marriage which happens to be one the top planks in the Republican Party Platform.
As you know, IDA has something called the Wall of Shame and we were wondering if we should place Matt Strawn on this wall for his lack of conviction on the marriage subject. We then decided to do the right thing no matter what we believe; we are allowing our readers to VOTE on the issue.

I’m glad the Republican party is imploding in Iowa over this issue!

I am very disappointed by Mr. Strawn’s lack of leadership in the area of same sex marriage. His silence speaks volumes of how he handles difficult situations. Yes, he needs to be on your Wall of Shame. Our Republican Party officials need to know that they do not have a silent majority in their ranks. We are watching and paying attention. I was hoping he would be more than Mr. Twitter Personality.

Well Jamie maybe you ought to read some History and see what happened in the Roman empire before they fell. Things got sick and preverted. We dont have gladiators killing one another but we have Ultimate fighting where they can beat the crap out of each other and choke a person til he taps out or ref stops it. Close enough. You dont get this isnt a republican or democratic thing its a Moral thing. I Guess you have few morals, nor are a religious person either. If you are a religious person you must be twisting the bible so it looks good in your eyes on this subject of same sex marriage. Instead of using a lame Supreme courts ruling.

Your ancient supersitions and rambling do nothing to persuade people to your side Woodrow.

Hey! Woodrow! I love what you post! Keep up the great job expressing your views. You have the heart of a true American. It is my honor to read what you share here on IDA!

Strawn people must be voting- or party loyalists.
I vote put him up there in your shame wall.

Maine Senate and NH Senate have both passed gay marriage. Maine vote today was 21-14—a landslide. You are going to need a bigger wall to put all your party’s apostates on.

Jerry,
This isn’t a game. There are no winners here; only losers. Have you really done any research on the effects of a homosexual lifestyle? Not only are we tearing apart the very institution that this country was founded on but we are tearing apart the lives of fellow human beings who will only suffer either from mental or physical destruction because we are giving them a free pass to a destructive lifestyle. I thought your party was all about taking care of your fellow American?

It’s already legal for them to have sex. I didn’t realize you all were proposing to make that illegal, too. Maybe you could rename yourselves the Puritan Party.
And are you suggesting the “very institution this country was founded on” is marriage? I don’t think it was much discussed in public halls in 1780. I think we were founded on the institutions of courts, legislatures and elections. We replaced the institution of monarchy and subservient colony with one of self-government, co-equal branches of government and the notion of checks and balances.
Hetero-sex had nothing to do with it.

It’s about time Christians and conservatives stopped pretending that the Republican Party represents us. They are more than happy to take our money, and they know they need us when it comes election time, but they aren’t willing to do what we elected them to do in Des Moines. Republican party officials and office holders laugh at Christians just like Democrat insiders laugh at blacks for supporting them.
We are all getting played, and I’m glad to see that we are waking up to it.
