Thank You Men and Women in our Armed Forces

As this Memorial Day arrives once again. I want to thank the men who fought and died for this great country. What they did was heroic and I highly doubt with the society we’re bringing up today you will ever find enough men willing to lay their life on the line for their country now as they did during World War II. Without their efforts alot of us probably would not be here today if we had been taken over by Japan and Germany. I want to thank those men because we are free and can enjoy our freedoms today the freedom to speak out against our leaders when we feel they are not doing whats in our best interest. Thank you one and all who died in the defense of this country. We need more Americans who should be more thankful for this and show more gratitude to our veterans. I want to thank the thousands of men and women today who are protecting us right now. I wish I could shake their hands and thank them for what they do for us. My heart goes out to you all THANKS For protecting the United States and keeping us free ! May God Bless you all.
Thank you for the post. It is important to honor those who have served.
There was not the slightest chance that either Japan or Germany could have taken over the USA in the 1940s—or any other time. No one is threatening to invade now either, nor will they in the forseeable future. We owe our security to the Atlantic and Pacific as much as to anything else.
Jerry, that has got to be the most disrespectful comment you have ever made.
I apologize to our readers who have served or have had loved ones serve our country for Jerry’s lack of understanding that it takes more than a body of water to protect our nation.
The body of water even protected England from German invasion. It’s role should not be understated. I never said the water was sufficient. I only said no invasion was imminent despite the poster’s apparent illusions.
Jerry I was merely thanking the thousands of men and women who protect us. And the soldiers who have died fighting for this country. You must not give a dam about them. Without their great heroism during the Revolutionary war. We came real close to losing the war to the British the oceans didn’t stop them from invading 2 times remember that ?? I remember the White House being burned down in 1812 by who ? It wasn’t the ocean! But the British who came across it. We will talk the enemy out of invading or killing us? The oceans will do that? We should get rid of the nuclear weapons to they don’t protect us the oceans do? Where do you stand? With your comments you must not give a crap about the men who gave their life so you can have the freedom make the most rude comments . I have more respect for the men who died they made the ultimate sacrifice. And you can’t make one nice comment about any one them. And in my article i said IF we had lost World War II a lot of us might not be here now. I’m not sure how the Pacific and Atlantic ocean got in this. If you can’t show some simple respect for the men who died. Very sad Jerry your a sad unpatriotic American.
Speaking as a veteran, I think Jerry has it right. Sorry, but I have to differ from your perspective.
What truly disgusts me is how arm chair commandos feel that they have the right to place THE litmus test on another’s sense of patriotism.
This is sad iowanforabetteriowa made a nice gesture to the veterans. And you jump on him. I guess next year he should just say its memorial day big deal huh? I’m sorry i’m not that way and if you don’t like anyone giving praise to our dead soldiers and the ones fighting for us now to darn bad. I’m sorry if this is to patriotic for your libs.
Dear Iowanfbi,
You wrote ” alot of us probably would not be here today if we had been taken over by Japan and Germany.”
I wrote that no such thing was in the cards thanks to the big moats arond our castle. Then Rocker and you and Woodrow all claimed I had insulted soldiers.
I didn’t say anything about soldiers ( or sailors). But i think your militarism is showing if you can’t acknowledge that some countries are safer than others due to geography (Switzerland, Australia). I can’t think of any industrialized, heavily populated state that has been invaded from across the water. We didn’t even invade Japan because they were beaten and they surrendered first.
