A Few Words on Dr. Tiller

This is probably the shortest post I have ever written and I believe it is because that some times fewer words say more.

How ironic that someone who advocated for and followed through on the right to choose to end a life was gunned down by someone who made that same choice.  Perhaps Dr. George Tiller became of victim of the very thing he helped create:  the culture of death.

First and foremost, let us pray for Tiller’s family. This is a tragedy for them.

Secondly I find it ironic that Tiller’s life ended at the hands of someone else, just like his victims.

  2. Norman says:

Dr. Tiller the Killer can kill no more.
Killing babies late term won’t be by his hands now.

  3. Woodrow says:

I don’t honestly know how this guy could go to church and have a clear conscious as Thou shall not kill is one of the Ten Commandments.

  4. Jerry says:

Wellllllll, Rocker! You come about as close as you dare to writing “He got what he deserved.”

I’ve always been annoyed by the use of the term pro-life to describe people who are merely anti-abortion. This murder may show us once again how hypocritical these “pro-lifers” really are. Some of them are just as willing to take life as any of the people they criticize. It’s just different lives that they want to end.

    • abregar says:

Once again you are rushing to pass judgment. We don’t know all the facts in this murder. But perhaps you would rather practice guilty until proven innocent.

    • Iowans Rock says:

You’re wrong, Jerry. Only God can determine what someone deserves. It was not the murderer’s job to decide Tiller’s fate.

      Murder is murder.

  5. Jerry says:

Do you think this murder can be called an act of terrorism? Isn’t it intended to terrorize abortion clinics? What if the government decided this terrorist act warranted a War on Terrorism and started arresting and torturing people to find out about possible future attacks?

    • abregar says:

      Jerry,
As far as I am aware the motive is unknown. For all we know it could be a jealous husband or his wife’s lover.

      • Jerry says:

If we start torturing now (his neigbors and friends) we may find out sooner. What do you say? After all, some people are already terrorized, so it’s still terrorism no matter what his motive.

        • abregar says:

So am I to understand you here. Any violent crime can be considered an act of terrorism.

What happened here was a crime committed against one US citizen targeted against another US citizen. Until we know the motive behind this man’s heinous actions we cannot categorize this murder as terrorism.
Terrorism is a crime committed against a group of people with the goal of creating fear and terror. With the information that we have before us right now this was an act targeting one individual.

          • Jerry says:

So lynching was not terrorism by your way of thinking since only one individual was usually targetted.

No, any violent crime is not always terrorism. Most killers know their victums and are just consumed by rage or alcohol. Some kill for money.

This killer killed for politics. The effect already has been to call the US Marshalls.

So don’t you think we should start torturing to find out if there are more similar crimes in the planning stages? At least we would find out his real motives, wouldn’t we? Shouldn’t we do everything possible to defend the doctors who are doing legal work?

            • abregar says:

Actually, no lynching was not terrorism because one citizen targeted another.

As for your claim that this murder involved politics there is no way for you to know that at this stage. As I said this individual could have wanted Tiller dead for any number of reasons.

As for your desire to torture this man, sorry he is a citizen of the US and is protected by our laws.

  6. All4Iowa says:

Yes, how ironic. However, two wrongs never make a right.

  7. iowanforabetteriowa says:

If he was a supposedly God fearing man i think hes gonna be in for a big surprise when judgement day comes. Cause i don’t think he could say enough Hail Marys to cover what he done.

  8. taco says:

Vigilantism is unacceptable. Murder is murder. I agree it is ironic and they will both answer for their transgressions.
