The California Clown Comes to Iowa
As I mentioned in a post yesterday, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was due to be in Iowa today for a series of events in the Des Moines area. The California Democrat has been under fire recently for alleging that the Bush administration had misled her about interrogation techniques. The problem is that it wasn’t the Bush administration that was briefing her, it was the CIA and they say she was fully informed of the methods the agency used to interrogate high profile terror prisoners. She has vehemently denied repeatedly that she was briefed about the methods, even going so far as to say that the CIA had lied to her.
Her first event of the day was a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee at the home of former Iowa Democratic Party Chairwoman Roxanne Conlin. The event was to be invitation only so as to ensure only hard core Democrats attended. It wouldn’t do to have any unseemly questions asked of the Speaker. Another stipulation of this event was the requirement of a minimum $2,500 donation by the attendees. I have yet to hear a report on the attendees to this event, but I believe I can confidently say that Leonard Boswell, Bruce Braley, and Dave Loebsack were in attendance to this demonstration of elitism.
Later in the day Pelosi took part in what The Des Moines Register calls an education round table with several other prominent Iowa Democrats at Amos Hiatt Middle School in Des Moines. From the commentary in the Register it would appear that this event was little more than a staged appearance with loyal followers praising the Democrats for the stimulus plan.
An interesting side note to the story here is that prior to her trip to Iowa Pelosi announced that she would not submit to an interview. Apparently Pelosi learned that one of the issues she was to be questioned on was her ongoing feud with the CIA. After the event at the middle school Pelosi did hold a press conference where one of the reporters in attendance managed to ask a question about the controversy. Pelosi apparently attempted to dodge the question by asking some of the other reporters on hand if they had any questions. When this attempt failed Pelosi was forced to answer the question. In her response Pelosi asserted that the criticism from Republicans was nothing more than a distraction designed to take attention away from the Democrats “successes.” This woman amazingly refuses to see that she has been caught in a lie. She keeps digging herself a deeper and deeper hole. Before long it will be too deep for her to dig her way out of it.
One of the disturbing things about these events today is that all three of Iowa’s Democratic Representatives were on hand to share the spotlight with the California Clown. They are blinded by the celebrity nature that surrounds the venal Speaker of the House. As these three continue to consort with the mendacious woman the corruption that inhabits her very being will undoubtedly tarnish their own reputations. Please urge these men to denounce the dishonesty that has come to characterize this Speaker of the House.

Did you know that once the head of the CIA was convicted in court of lying to Congress? Don’t you realize the whole function of the CIA is to be a CYA for Presidents? Lying is what they do best.
And if you read very carefully, you’ll see that Panetta didn’t quite say that Pelosi was wrong. He said “it is not CIA policy to mislead Congress.” He never said that in this case the CIA had told the truth. Just like Bush said we don’t torture. Bush glossed over the torture in the past, speaking only about the present.
Remember when George Romney said he had been brainwashed when briefed by the government about Vietnam? It’s the same thing.
The Pelosi story is a tempest in a teapot—clueless conservatives looking for some way –any way–to bash Democrats.

If Pelosi feels that the CIA had lied to her. Where are the investigations and criminal charges that would come from it? The only reasonable answer is that it is Pelosi that is lying. She knows that her dishonesty would be ferreted out.

It’s amazing how brain washed liberals are. They’ll stick up for anybody with a (D) behind their name. Conservatives on the other hand are not afraid to hold their own accountable. It’s called honesty.

Yeah, like you all were holding Bush accountable during his hey-day. Nowadays you all say Bush failed, but at the time you all defended and even worshipped him.
Funny how you re-use the word brainwashed. That’s literally what Geo Romney said had happened to him in 1968. He was probably correct, but it looked bad to have a potential President admit he was so easily misled. Now Pelosi claims to have been misled and you all say it couldn’t have happened. You deny history.

I believe George Romney was lying also.

Someone is clueless about Pelosi- and it isn’t conservatives!

Go ahead, make your case, if you have one.

I like the pictures, but pictures of Nancy are not needed. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy.

One year later conservatives at Judicial Watch have turned up new evidence that Pelosi was telling the truth. Y’all can apologize now. The CIA lies like a rug.

Jerry,
When I get a chance I will review the information you have posted, but right now I am a tad bit busy as I am sure you can surmise from the frequency of my posts as of late.
