I think we got enough lakes to go jet skiing in or water skiing, I think that Lake Redrock and Sailorville lake should have had hydro electric capabilities when they was built instead of the excuse of flood control now mainly recreation heck with flood control only control that seems to come from it now is how much they decide to flood you when the lake gets to high.

I just picked up my Ames Tribune. Seems the City of Ames is meeting to vote on a 25 year franchise agreement with Allian Energy.

“If approved… Alliant would have the power to condemn private property for its uses…. without the city’s involvement or input. Property owners can fight condemnation in court, but the process can be expensive and difficult.”

And you were saying this could happen to anyone. Looks like it is.

A reader must a read between the lines and quotes in this article and do a great deal of questioning.
If you read lake studies, you’ll find they inflate many usages-water needs, bird watchers, etc. For instance, the usage could be more than 25% inflated, they could find it is 50-75% inflated!
The place of the “lake” reads as if they’d change the location. That really means the location of the dam. Five different sites of study are actually all the same general location. So if they change one thing, it may just mean someone else will be in jeopardy that originally thought they were safe.
I will agree, the Clarke County reservoir is controversial and with good reason.
Let’s consider this was our own land, family, friends and keep supporting the landowners.
