I agree essentially with the letter as far as it goes. Besides being a big government spending liberal, the things that have bothered me even more in the long career of Tom Harkin has been his extreme social/cultural radicalism and his long record of appeasement to Communists and Leftist in other nations, going way back to the Vietnam War when he essentially took the side of the Communist North Vietnam and later when he took the side of the communist revolutionaries in Central America.
