Iowa Defense Alliance is Proud to Endorse Kent Sorenson

I hate to say, “I told you so” but IDA was quick to jump on the Kent Sorenson bandwagon in 2008 when he ran against four-term state representative Mark Davitt in district 74. While the good ole’ party soldiers dismissed perhaps one of best Republican candidates to embody the full platform of the GOP just because they thought he couldn’t win, IDA was quick to promote him. (I believe, however, he was dismissed by the party because he could successfully run on the full playform…………social issues and all.)
We know the rest of the story; Sorenson pulled off an upset by defeating the incumbent and now he is going after first term liberal state senator Staci Appel in district 37. By the way, did you know that her husband is on the Iowa Supreme Court that legislated and executed from the bench? Yeah, you can’t make that stuff up.
I’m sure that members of IDA will be more than willing to expose Staci Appel as the ultra-liberal that she is, which is by no means a representation of her district. I wonder if her constituents know what she has really been up to these past couple of years as their elected official. On the other hand, I wonder if she realizes that Sorenson has already gained support in his district where Republican support is usually rather slim and that people who had Barack Obama signs in their yards also had Kent Sorenson’s signs.
I believe that Sorenson can pull off another upset with the same grassroots support he had last time around and more money flowing into his campaign because of the increased attention on the race. I just hope that he is ready for the money that will come pouring into Appel from Tim Gill and his thugs.
