The front-runner Mike Huckabee

The big news of the weekend was not just football. There was “news” out of New Hampshire. And in the words of a Shania Twain song: “That Don’t Impress Me Much!”
Mitt Romney is now touted by some in the media as the ‘clear front runner’ after he ‘solidly’ wins the New Hampshire Straw Poll with 35% of the votes from 273 of the 426 registered voters.
I will highlight what some sources are saying about this solid (?) win:
Romney is perhaps best known for instituting universal health care in MA, which became the model for the health care law sponsored by Democrats in Congress and passed last year.
Former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney cleaned house in a hyped New Hampshire straw poll yesterday, even as his national poll numbers show signs of trouble. “All of a sudden he has lost the aura of being a front-runner because he’s falling behind in polls and because of Romneycare,” said GOP strategist Todd Domke, referring to Romney’s role in passing Massachusetts’ historic health-insurance mandate. “I don’t think this offsets the perception that he’s weak, with no momentum. Romney’s showing reflects his field organization in New Hampshire rather than his national popularity,” Domke said. The biggest drama in tomorrow’s straw poll will likely center around how much Romey wins by. If his support in the straw balloting is lower than his poll numbers — around 40% in a multi-candidate field right now — it will likely be sold by observers as bad news for Romney.
(Worth noting: While fewer than 300 state committee members voted in the presidential straw poll, 421 members cast ballots in the race for state party chairman — a reminder that it’s wise not to read too much into the straw poll results.)
Speaking of a clear front runner I personally prefer these poll results for Mike Huckabee:
Iowa votes for Mike Huckabee!
Texas votes for Mike Huckabee!
And nationally voters support Huckabee with this mention of Romney:
Romney isn’t so lucky, according to PPP. He’s not particularly popular among conservative voters, who give him only a 55 percent favorability rating. That’s compared to 74 percent favorability from conservatives for Huckabee and 73 percent for Palin.
Mike Huckabee has said he will make his all important decision about entering the 2012 Presidential race sometime this summer. In the meantime there will be numerous other polls that those who follow politics will read, debate, and promote. Meanwhile Huckabee has Iowa voters who are quietly and diligently working to be ready to jump into action. Just for good measure Huckabee is Chuck Norris Approved and he has an Army. We are grassroots and ready to roll for Mike Huckabee. Mike Huckabee is our clear front runner.
Any thinking person can see that Governor Huckabee is clearly in the frontrunner position, if there is such a thing this early. Of course, the media and some of Huck’s opponents will continue to try to paint him as a RINO or a progressive – but I can tell you first hand that he is not. As Governor of Arkansas he….
* Cut the state capital gains tax rate by 25%.
* Abolished capita…l gains taxes on home sales.
* Abolished the state marriage penalty tax.
* Pushed a $90 million tax cut package through the Arkansas legislature in 1997.
* From 1995 to 2005, cut taxes 90 times, returning nearly $400 million to taxpayers ($378 to be exact).
* Indexed income tax brackets to inflation, thus protecting taxpayers from being pushed into higher tax brackets by inflation.
* Doubled the child-care tax credit.
* Increased the tax deduction for single individuals to $2,000.
* Increased the tax deduction for married couples to $4,000.
* Proposed cutting the executive branch from 50 departments to 10.
* Banned illegal aliens from getting drivers licenses.
* Reduced state welfare enrollment by nearly half.
* Helped pass an unborn child amendment to the state constitution.
* Helped pass a traditional marriage amendment to the state constitution.
* Pushed through a property owners’ bill of rights that limited property tax hikes and protected homeowners from unfair tax assessments.
* Pushed through homeschooling-friendly legislation.
* Limited the increase in the overall rate of state spending to 4.9% (AFI)–not bad, considering that he was dealing with a Democratic legislature.
* Protected gun manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits.
* Removed restrictions on concealed handgun permit holders.
* Pushed through legislation that allowed the state to fire school boards and school superintendents in school districts that were chronically performing badly.
* When faced with a $227 million deficit for fiscal year 2002, refused to call for a tax increase and instead called for a massive cut in state spending.
That doesn’t sound like a progressive to me. Governor Huckabee is in a class of his own and the only candidate on the horizon with the experience, wisdom, leadership abilities, and communication skills needed to topple this far left leaning administration.
If conservatives want to save themselves from swirling down this socialistic drain that has been flushed on us, they need to realize one important truth. Some (if not most) of the radio talkers and establishment type Republicans are trying to sell conservatives a bill of goods about Mike Huckabee.
The crowd that many have looked to as “leaders” such as Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Savage, Malkin, Coulter, Drudge, and others like them are the reason Obama is President today. They are NOT telling the truth about Governor Huckabee! They know it, I know it, and many more people each day are beginning to see through their transparent scheme. The truth is out there, but unfortunately we are not getting it any longer from those many of us used to trust.
Not at all surprised that Romney come out on top of a NH poll, after all he has a home there and loyal workers to promote him. NH is one state, this is one poll and frankly- it is early. NO amount of push by the media would ever, ever get me to vote Romney.
Very nice. Although, I am not too upset that they are not broadcasting Huckabee as the “frontrunner” yet. That’s when the bullets REALLY start to fly. Let’s lay low for awhile while he quietly wins people over.
Holy smokes! Huck disses the Egyptians for upsetting their dictator!
You would want the Muslims to take over, wouldn’t you Jerry.
What’s that supposed to mean? The whole country is Muslim. Of course the Muslims will take over—from other Muslims.
I have this uncontrollable democratic impulse and no sympathy for “stable” dictators.
Mighty cold in Iowa this week. Why no posts about global warming?
Ah, here’s one:
