Mike Huckabee in the news!

Mike Huckabee, my candidate, has been in the news and oh how I love it! In a March 31Townhall piece, Kevin McCullough sums up how I feel about Huckabee:

…no one believes Governor Huckabee walks on water, but they have learned that his word is his bond. They hear from his heart and they see that he is more like the everyday guy than any man to ever run for President.

They also value his judgment, and his ability to speak to what they are feeling.

Could not have said it better myself!

More Huckabee is highlighted in a great WORLDmag.com article, On the road again, which highlights Huckabee’s “hectic schedule.” Especially interesting and informative are Huckabee’s answers to questions about ‘past and current governmental fat.” Huckabee shows he has strengths in the area of foreign policy.

There is news about how well Huckabee would match-up with Obama in 2012 and how well Huckabee is doing with in the ratings for his cable news show on FOX.

More good news about how Mike Huckabee would compete against other Republican candidates:

A survey conducted by Public Policy Polling tested the popularity of four prominent Republicans: Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Among the four, Mr. Huckabee is the most popular with a 42 percent favorability rating, 34 percent negative. Mr. Romney also polled well, earning a 40 percent favorability rating versus 35 percent unfavorable.

Mrs. Palin and Mr. Gingrich, on the other hand, didn’t do so well. Mrs. Palin polled 42 percent favorable, 49 percent unfavorable. Mr. Gingrich’s ratings were 36 percent favorable, 44 percent unfavorable.

And finally, Mike Huckabee and his supporters are making a difference with supporting candidates by participating in  Huck PAC which is a “growing grassroots force…nationwide…”

Yes, it has been a happy few weeks following Mike Huckabee in the news! Mike Huckabee says he does not know if he will run for President in 2012 so until then, I will cling to my guns and to my religion. And I will continue to follow news of what Mike is saying and doing because “his word is his bond.”

And above all else, I can trust Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee: ‘marriage matters’ and values

The actions of recent days weigh heavy on my heart: the Iowa Supreme Court decision on gay marriage, world events, and murders of innocent people to name just some of the sad events we have heard in the news this week.

Today I wish to share with you relevant words that Mike Huckabee has written in his book Do the Right Thing. Some food for thought after what has happened in my beloved Iowa this week.

…marriage matters…nothing in our society matters more. Our true strength doesn’t come from our military or our gross national product; it comes from our families. What’s the point of keeping the terrorists at bay in the Middle East if we can’t keep decline and decadence at bay here at home? The growing number of children born out of wedlock and the rise in no-fault divorces have been a disaster for our society…

Over time, with a Democrat president- or a Republican who looks like one- we can expert to see some radical changes in the way this country works, none for the better. The only way we, as a party, as citizens, can combat this possibility is by sticking to and celebrating the values that we believe in- not running away from them. They are what makes us who we are.

Mr. Huckabee also quotes from a homily given by the late Cardinal O’Connor in regards to the New York domestic partnership law:

It equat(ed) the nonmarried state with the married state. This cannot…fail to influence the young in their attitudes toward marriage and family, even discouraging marriage in instances when marriage should be encouraged. It can eventually lead to moral and cultural changes in our society neither anticipated nor traditionally desired from our earliest days as a people… It is imperative, in my judgment, that no law be passed contrary to natural moral law and Western tradition by virtually legislating that ‘marriage does not matter’.”

Iowa citizens have much work ahead of us. We must work in our own neighborhoods and churches to support and strengthen families. We must care about the laws and policies that our elected officials put in to place.

Mike Huckabee calls for us to “be the somebody… and do the something.”

Huckabee’s words are a call to action for citizens to unite in strong, loud, and persistent voices to our elected officials and let them know what our values are lest we see even more radical changes being forced upon America and Iowa.

Mike Huckabee in the “Top 10…”

“Twitter” is turning out to be a great place for great news finds. I share my latest “find” with you. Titled “Top 10 political upsets of 2008″ held Mike Huckabee memories for me! I was fortunate to hear Mike speak while he was campaigning in Iowa and to work work to promote his message, so yes, I would be happy to see some good press about his campaign and Iowa victory.

The caucus was an awesome event. Even the disorganization of the process was made more tolerable when Huckabee received the most votes of any other candidate in my crowded room. Just reading the words below brings back wonderful memories and gives me hope for next time around.

Certainly not everyone reading my post will be a Huckabee supporter but tonight as I post, what matters is that I am and forever will be.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1208/16879.html

Every election cycle has its share of upset winners, the candidates who pulled off long-shot victories that surprised the pundits, the political professionals and sometimes even themselves.

This year was no different — and was perhaps even a little more eventful because of the dramatic presidential nomination battles in both parties.

Here’s Politico’s list of the top 10 political upsets of 2008, the memorable ones that remind us that political handicapping is an inexact science.

Mike Huckabee (Iowa Republican caucus): By the time Iowans went to their caucus locations in January, it was clear that former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was surging. After a series of strong debate performances and some offbeat advertising featuring martial arts expert Chuck Norris, buzz was building around the GOP longshot’s candidacy.

Huckabee wasn’t supposed to be able to compete with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s money and organization, yet he trounced Romney by nine points, changing the course of the Republican nominating contest and establishing the former preacher as a national player.

Mike Huckabee on the U.S. Infrastructure

How handy dandy that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is mentioned in this Des Moines Register Editorial and is receiving attention for his comments about putting people to work building and repairing the country’s infrastructure. Great Idea but another former Governor spoke out on this topic months ago! I find it more than interesting that ideas, concerns, and issues that Mike Huckabee discussed during the primaries were on target then and on target now.

Had the media, Liberals, and so-called Conservatives been paying more attention to Former Governor Huckabee instead of hammering away that Huckabee was a former Baptist pastor the American voters would have a better chance to know that Mr. Huckabee had any ideas that were helpful and useful for the country! Add the slanted news coverage to the fact that Huckabee was shoved off to the side of the stage during debates and received a rare question or two- well… this is past history.

I want to highlight with this post that Mike Huckabee was a man with a plan then and a man of wisdom now. “We have bridges falling down on people in the US. Infrastructure in this country has been neglected, whether it’s our airports, our bridges, and our roads, and I don’t think there’s a governor in this state that wouldn’t tell you that you’ll create more jobs and you’ll build it with American workers, American concrete and American steel. That’s stimulus.”

http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Mike_Huckabee_Technology.htm

Infrastructure: Stimulus, Safety, Security, & Sustainability

My four guiding principles on infrastructure can be summed up simply: Stimulus, Safety, Security, and Sustainability.

  1. Stimulus: I support the short-term economic stimulus package, but we must also look to the next century, not just to the next few quarters.
  2. Safety: Infrastructure-based economic development is not just about giving our economy a shot in the arm–it is also about protecting and preserving what we have already developed.
  3. Security: Allowing these weaknesses to continue provides openings for the terrorists to exploit.
  4. Sustainability: I have always been a conservationist. Stewardship of the air and land and soil is very important to me. I will follow the principle I learned from the Boy Scouts: Always leave the land better than when you found it. I am proud of my record in Arkansas, building constructive consensus on key issues. I look forward to bringing the same leadership to America.

Infrastructure in this country has been neglected

We’ve got a crumbling infrastructure. I don’t have to tell people that their traffic is clogged. Every billion dollars we spend on highway construction results in 47,500 jobs. The average American is sitting in traffic 38 hours a year. That’s a full work week, not on vacation, not spent with their kids, stuck in traffic, just sitting there behind the wheel, pointing fingers, usually one at a time, at other motorists and very upset with what’s going on around them in this traffic. The point is we are burning a lot of fuel up in the air, polluting the environment. We’re wasting time. Parents never get home to their kids’ soccer games and recitals. We have bridges falling down on people in the US. Infrastructure in this country has been neglected, whether it’s our airports, our bridges, and our roads, and I don’t think there’s a governor in this state that wouldn’t tell you that you’ll create more jobs and you’ll build it with American workers, American concrete and American steel. That’s stimulus

Every $1B spent on infrastructure creates 47,500 jobs

Q: You’ve said you’ve got some serious problems with the Bush economic stimulus package.

A: The problem I have is that taxpayers will spend their $150 billion in rebates to buy imports from China. So whose economy is being stimulated? What I suggested was, we have a nation whose infrastructure is crumbling. Our roads, bridges, airports clogged up. Texas A&M did a study, found that the average American in an urban setting loses 38 hours a year–that’s a full work week–stuck in traffic because of clogged traffic patterns. Now, $150 billion would expand the interstate by two lanes, I-95, from Bangor, Maine, to Miami. There are places all over America where our infrastructure is choked. Every billion dollars we spend on infrastructure creates 47,500 jobs. And we do it with American labor, American cement, American steel. That’s why I’m saying that that’s a real long-term stimulus package. But it does more than just stimulate the economy, it actually stimulates jobs for Americans for a change.

$150B for highway infrastructure is better stimulus package

If we’re going to spend $150 billion [as in Bush's economic stimulus package], I’d like to suggest that maybe we add two lanes of highway from Bangor all the way to Miami on I-95. A third of the United States population lives within 100 miles of that. This nation’s infrastructure is falling apart. And if we built those lanes of highways–with American labor, American steel, American concrete–I believe it would do more to stimulate the economy.

And the reason I say that is because when we were going through a recession in my state, we were in the middle of a billion-dollar highway construction program that brought about 40,000 jobs and brought a billion dollars of capital into the economy. That’s a long- term stimulus package that I think would have more impact on the American long-term future. And it would keep social capital from being wasted, fuel wasted. A lot of people sit around in traffic every day, and we’ve done nothing about it.

Holiday Mail for Heroes

I have been hearing about “Holiday Mail for Heroes” and decided to post information on IDA about this kind and caring opportunity. One million pieces of holiday mail is the goal. December 10 is the deadline for a postmark on what you would decide to send.

Holiday mail program for servicemembers under way

The American Red Cross is sponsoring a national “Holiday Mail for Heroes” campaign to receive and distribute holiday cards to servicemembers and veterans both in the United States and abroad.

Holiday Mail for Heroes, which began Tuesday, Veterans Day, is a follow-up to the 2007 effort that resulted in the collection and distribution of more than 600,000 cards to hospitalized servicemembers. This year’s program will expand its reach to not only wounded servicemembers but also veterans and their families. The goal is to collect and distribute 1 million pieces of holiday mail.

“As we enter this holiday season-a time to celebrate with family and friends-it’s important to remember the thousands of men and women who serve our nation in harm’s way and those who are recovering in military and veterans hospitals,” said Army Col. Norvell V. Coots, commander, Walter Reed Health Care System. “The Holiday Mail for Heroes program is a wonderful outreach effort and a great way to acknowledge the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform.”

Holiday cards should be mailed to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD. 20791-5456

All cards must be postmarked no later than Dec. 10. Cards should not be mailed or delivered to Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

For more information, visit www.wramc.amedd.army.mil or www.redcross.org/holidaymail for Holiday Mail for Heroes program guidelines.Walter Reed is not accepting mail addressed to “A Recovering American Soldier.”

Huckabee on the road in Tennessee

As a Mike Huckabee fan I have followed with interest his book signing tour. It was fun to find this article about Huckabee in Tennessee. It is great to know that people in other states also ‘like Mike’ are willing to stand in long lines in order to get a book signed. As someone who stood in an Iowa line waiting a turn to get my book signed, I can understand the thrill of just being there. Watching other happy people wait their turn was an added bonus to the wait.

Way to go Tennessee! Huckabee may have surprised the pundits but he did not surprise his believers in Iowa and Tennessee.

Here is a portion of The Tennessean article.

Hundreds of people waited in line Sunday to get the autograph of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee who is on a 56-city tour promoting his new book detailing his success as a dark horse in the Republican presidential primaries.

Huckabee signed copies of his seventh book, Do the Right Thing: Inside the Movement That’s Bringing Common Sense Back to America, at Davis-Kidd Booksellers at The Mall at Green Hills.

It was Huckabee’s first time back in Tennessee since he carried the Volunteer State in the Republican primary in February, former national campaign manager Chip Saltsman said.

Surprising many pundits and even his own party, Huckabee garnered more than 4 million votes in the primaries and won eight states.

With his popularity surging after the race, getting his own television show and the whirlwind book tour, the question people continue to ask is whether Huckabee will run in 2012.

“The Huckabee Report” and more!

Mike Huckabee is one industrious and in demand man. This is good news for me and many other Mike Huckabee supporters. I look forward to Huckabee’s weekly FOX T.V. show and will be one of the happy people waiting to see him in Des Moines for the book signing event.

Now the announcement of Huckabee’s ABC Radio news broadcast and his upcoming appearance on The View. I am pleased with these additional opportunities for more Americans to get to know Mike Huckabee. It is my hope that many more people will see Huckabee for his good qualities and make up their own minds about the man.

It is apparent to me that the media is a great influence as to how Americans come to regard political candidates. Mike Huckabee is a prime example. To those of us who value and appreciate Huckabee for his good character, pleasant personality, knowledge of the issues, and belief in vertical politics, nothing negative that the media and others throw Huckabee’s way will deter our high opinion of him. So, it is for all the rest of the American public that I am most pleased to know that over time they can come to have a better understanding of Mike Huckabee, and not just in the way the media wanted to project him to us. In reality, I know that not all Americans will give Huckabee the time of day or the chance to be seen in a positive light. Yet, with additional ways of communicating with America Huckabee has every opportunity to secure more friends than foes.

It is with pleasure that I share the following news about Mike Huckabee.

http://www.rbr.com/radio/11281.html

ABC Radio Networks to launch “The Huckabee Report”

“ABC Radio Networks has signed former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee to its roster of news/talk talent. “The Huckabee Report” will be broadcast weekday mornings and afternoons and provide listeners with the top news stories of the day while also drawing on Huckabee’s experiences as a former governor and presidential candidate. The short form news features will launch on Jan. 5.”

http://jasontcpa.blogspot.com/2008/11/mike-huckabee-to-be-on-view.html

“Gov. Mike Huckabee will be on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday, November 18 which is also the day his new book “Do the Right Thing” is released. It should be interesting to see how the ladies of “The View” respond. Gov. Huckabee always does well on this type of show and I am sure this will be no exception. I predict he will have them all giggling like crazy by the end of the show.”

More on Second Amendment Rights

Wow- I hit the jackpot yesterday when I walked to the mail box! There were three mailings from the Iowa Republican Party about voting for Second Amendment Rights.

Being a parent who sent a child to college to study marketing I found each mailing to be powerful and to the creative point. Let me share with you what the Republican Party of Iowa put together for my enjoyment.

The Democrats and their anti-gun plans can be seen coming from miles away.

  • They make fun of gun owners… Saying we “cling” to our guns.
  • They don’t respect our proud hunting and sporting heritage… Working instead to destroy the traditions we’ve handed down among generations of outdoorsmen.
  • They criminalize law-abiding gun owners… Treating us like criminals and wanting to prosecute those who use their legally-owned firearms to protect their home and families.
  • They chip away at our gun rights… Working toward a permanent ban on certain types of guns, if not all firearms.

The title of the next mailing- “It’s enough to ruffle your feathers…”

and the next…“It will be the most important stand you make this hunting season… VOTE.”

Now, lest you think that 3 more mailings to get the point across of voting to preserve Second Amendment rights is overkill- this voter says NO!

As one mailer states: “Our 2nd Amendment is worth preserving… And our rights are worth defending.”

Vote for keeping our Second Amendment rights

“Calling All Republicans! Answer the Call to Duty…

Vote Republican and Defend Your Gun Rights!”

Finally, an important Republican mailing found its way to my mail box!

These sentences are under the heading of “STOP THE DEMOCRATS”:

  • from weakening our Second Amendment rights.
  • from criminalizing law-abiding gun owners.
  • from taking away our right to defend our home and families, especially in times of emergency.
  • from working to permanently ban certain types of guns, stop or reverse concealed carry laws one by one in states across the country, and limit our gun rights to the point of complete elimination.
  • from taking away the hunting and sporting rights we’ve shared through the generations.

I urge voters to check out the Iowa Brigade website to learn about candidates who support Iowan’s Second Amendment rights. I hope you will join me in being thankful that the Republican Party is the defender of gun rights.

Dear Sarah Palin,

Dear Sarah Palin,

I did not have the honor of being at either of the Campaign Rallies that you did in Iowa on Saturday. I had to rely on Iowa’s Sunday Des Moines Register to get the news of your events. I was reading along to note the large number of enthusiastic supporters who showed up in Sioux City and Des Moines and enjoying the happy photos of your fans and you. Yes, it was a great article until I got to the final three paragraphs. I will share them here. I am pretty certain that you will not be surprised that a positive sounding article would end with negative sentiments.

“There is some evidence that impressions of Palin have slipped in Iowa, even more in recent national polls.

The University of Wisconsin’s Big Ten Poll in Iowa showed that fewer likely voters in the state view Palin favorably than they did last month.

A national Washington Post-ABC News poll published Friday showed Palin’s favorability among likely voters has declined since her national debut at the Republican National Convention in September.”

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20081026/NEWS10/810260336&theme=CAMPAIGN_2008

As a voter who supported Mike Huckabee 100% I should not be shocked at what has happened to you since that night you got on the jet and left Alaska. Mike got a steady stream of mean, negative, and biased reporting. I was dismayed, disappointed, and angry at the negative attention Mike received. I have these same sentiments as I watch you be crucified during this campaign.

I guess the news media continues to think that all voters are so ignorant and bitter that we can not discern a hit job when we see one. With such a steady beat down by the media, Hollywood celebrities, feminists, and Obama campaign/supporters, it is absolutely no wonder that your favorability numbers would take a hit.

About your wardrobe. First of all, you look great in each and every outfit, so I would say that humans being human, some of the nasty coverage is just plain jealousy. And, I am betting that the true story of what you wear and why has never been shared, or if it has, the media would never cover it.

Speaking of spending money, where was the outcry that the price tag to put on the Democratic National Convention was 53 million?!? (Denver Post) I also read that 5.3 million was spent on the phony Greek temple for Obama’s speech. Those were big bucks being spent. I suppose some of that money accounted for the American flags that went into the trash. Nope, not much coverage of such a wasteful amount of spending by the democrats. Makes your wardrobe seem pretty inexpensive. From what I have read you will not be throwing your clothes away in some garbage can. I think it is called recycling and giving to charity.

And the media coverage. You have taken a lot of hits for your interviews with the warm and fuzzy (not!) Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric. Let me tell you, I wanted to knock Gibson’s glasses up a few inches on his nose and I wanted to have a few moments of my own with Ms. Couric. She needs a little lesson on manners and more fair and balanced interviewing.

Writing about the negative press brings me to the recent WFTV, Channel 9 interview with Joe Bidden. Talk about being thin skinned! Ask a tough question to the Obama bunch and all heck breaks loose. Team Obama can dish it out but they can’t take it! Major meltdown.

Sarah, I just voted “Yes” in an on-line poll that you would have a “bright” political future. I will be watching for the good things that come your way. Stand up for yourself and know that you have a great number of supporters who see the fine, good things that you bring to the Republican Party and to the McCain/Palin ticket!

I am hoping that you will be on the Huckabee show on FOX. Mike would treat you with kindness and respect. For one thing, Mike is kind and respectful and for another, he surely has empathy for what you have had to endure at the hands of those who wish you the worst.

Wishing you THE BEST!

A fan in Iowa

P.S. I sadly will not get to vote in this election for Mike Huckabee but you will have my enthusiastic vote!
