Mike Huckabee and Sanctity of Life Petition

Mike Huckabee is urging Americans to take action on his “Sign My Sanctity of Life Petition.” I share his letter and my own encouragement to take the time to read the powerful words by Huckabee and then sign this important petition.

“I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned.

I know there are millions of Americans who believe as I do. All are concerned about the negative impact an Obama presidency and a Democrat controlled Congress will have on the Courts and the fight to overturn Roe v. Wade if they should win this Election Day.  We cannot let that happen.

If you are as concerned about this issue as I am, I urge you to sign our “I Support The Sanctity of Life” petition today. Our goal is to identify 100,000 pro-Life voters by Election Day and have them sign the petition.

I hope you will be one of the first to sign the petition and then forward it to friends and family. We will track our progress on the front page of our website.

With less than 20 days to go, time is of the essence so please contact your co-workers, friends at church, family and whoever else you can think of who is willing to sign this petition.

During the presidential campaign we relied on networks of friends to turn out the vote and distribute information. Our Bloggers, Meetups, Huck’s Army, Facebook and MySpace groups led the way online. We accomplished great things working together. Time after time, I have read the comments on our blog asking for the next assignment. This is it.

Blog about it, post a message on twitter, post a message to your social networking profile or just pick up the phone and make some calls to friends and family. However you can spread the word and encourage voters to sign our petition.

To me, life doesn’t begin at conception and end at birth. Every child deserves a quality education, first-rate health care, decent housing in a safe neighborhood, and clean air and drinking water. Every child deserves the opportunity to discover and use his God-given gifts and talents.

I know you agree. Let’s remind the Barack Obama and the Democrats that the constituency of pro-life voters is alive and well.  Sign our petition today!

With deep gratitude,

Mike Huckabee”

Wisdom from “Joe the Plumber” and Mike Huckabee

Wow… Joe Wurzelbacher… “Joe the Plumber”. He is my kind of guy! He meets Obama and doesn’t get a warm feeling. And better yet, he does not have a fainting spell. Joe has his wits about him and asks Obama a question about why an Obama administration would raise taxes. “Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn’t it?” the plumber asked, complaining that he was being taxed “more and more for fulfilling the American dream.”

In an answer that is OH SO TELLING Obama says: “It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success, too. I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

I am hoping that Mike Huckabee will get Joe the Plumber on his weekly show. What an awesome pair! In honor of these two men of wisdom, I share the following from Huckabee’s book From Hope to Higher Ground.

“I once heard the various forms of government described this way:

Communism – you have two cows and the government takes both cows and gives you part of the milk.

Socialism – you have two cows and the government takes one of the cows and gives it to your neighbor.

Fascism – you have two cows and the government takes both cows and sells you the milk.

Nazism – you have two cows and the government takes both cows and shoots you.

Bureaucracy – you have two cows, the government takes both cows, shoots one, milks the other, and pours the milk down the drain.

Capitalism – you have two cows, you sell one and you buy a bull!

Our system, based on the capitalist idea, is intended to create incentives so there is a return on one’s endeavors. It has it’s flaws, but ours is still better than any other system on earth.”

From thesomebody: Pay attention working class Americans.  A President Obama has plans for your money. He can hardly wait for his chance to distribute it as he pleases.

America needs another Paul Revere

<!–[if !mso]> <! st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } –>

What America needs… are more citizens like Paul Revere. From research I have done, Revere was an average guy. He was a craftsman who worked hard to support a large family. When needed Paul Revere got on a horse and communicated the way it was done back in that day. He rode all night and delivered the message in person. Revere did what needed to be done and his efforts helped get us through the American Revolution.

Fast forward to 2008. New kinds of communication but the continued need for the average American citizen to step up and be counted. In the part in the poem I am sharing the phrase that really jumps out at me is “a cry of defiance and not of fear”. Americans, this is what we need today- some boldness – some rebelliousness. The media and even our elected officials have us all running scared. We have sat back and let others make decisions for us. Mostly gone is the defiance that put Revere out on his horse going from town to town in the middle of the night. We have gotten too comfy.

I have been waiting for someone to step up, speak out and give us something to listen to that will inspire us to get motivated before America is lost as we have known it. Maybe the trouble is that there are so many speaking. Pundits and others yelling over each other to get their points across. Campaigns that have been going on so long that we are very “sick and tired” of almost everyone and everybody. Americans who are busy being mean and nasty in what they think, write, and do. It is easier to criticize and whine than to do something.

So, I wait, still hopeful for a modern day Paul Revere. Wouldn’t it be great if someone emerged who just decided to make a difference and not care what all of the experts think, how he or she would be treated by the media? Someone with great character and a grasp on leadership skills.

I know – it is a different place. It is a different time. We sure need someone and soon. We sure could use someone like Paul Revere: “a patriot in the name of freedom”.

Paul Revere’s Ride   by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

"Listen, my children, and you shall hear
Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere,
On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-Five:
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that famous day and year.
So through the night rode Paul Revere;
And so through the night went his cry of alarm
To every Middlesex village and farm,--
A cry of defiance, and not of fear,
A voice in the darkness, a knock at the door,
And a word that shall echo forevermore!
For, borne on the night-wind of the Past,
Through all our history, to the last,
In the hour of darkness and peril and need,
The people will waken and listen to hear
The hurrying hoof-beats of that steed,
And the midnight message of Paul Revere."

“An obituary in the Boston Intelligence commented, “seldom has the tomb closed upon a life so honorable and useful”.  This seems an accurate representation of the life of one of the more modest and trustworthy men who ever walked the face of the earth.”

Yes, we need someone “trustworthy”, “honorable”, and “useful” like Paul Revere.

An update on “Hold that Happy Meal”

Some of the “rest of the story”…. and update on a prior post called “Hold that Happy Meal”.

Read and decide if McDonald’s really did have a change of heart or found a different way to support a cause that the said they supported but now do not….

It sounds like the South had success with putting on the pressure and that pressure worked. I have to say that I am surprised that McDonald’s would back down and decide to not participate when their cooperation seemed so openly supportive of the homosexual agenda.

McDonald’s cuts off gay chamber of commerce group

YIELDS TO PRESSURE | Fast-food chain will no longer sponsor group

October 10, 2008

BY CHERYL V. JACKSON cjackson@suntimes.com

“After months of pressure from an anti-gay-marriage group, McDonald’s Corp. has given up a director’s seat and will stop sponsorship of a national gay business organization.

Richard Ellis, who until last month was vice president of communications of McDonald’s USA, has resigned from the board of directors of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, franchisees were told in a Sept. 23 memo.

McDonald’s USA, which had made a $20,000 donation to the chamber and became a 2008 chamber sponsor, said it would not sponsor the organization in 2009.

Ellis, the company said, “made a personal decision to step down” from the board after he got a new position with McDonald’s Canadian operations. “It is our policy to not be involved in political and social issues. McDonald’s remains neutral on same-sex marriage or any ‘homosexual agenda’ as defined by the American Family Association,” the memo said.

In May, the group called for a boycott of McDonald’s over the fast-food chain’s association with the gay business organization. The American Family Association, based in Mississippi, runs American Family Radio.

“Our concern was: Here is a family-friendly company that has, all of a sudden, joined hands and became a partner and ally with an organization that is absolutely attacking the moral foundation of our nation; trying to redefine marriage in our nation,” said Buddy Smith, executive assistant to the group’s chairman. “All we were asking is that they just simply be neutral in the culture wars and focus on doing their business and remain neutral.”

The chamber, based in Washington, D.C., said it doesn’t lobby for same-sex marriage.

Franchisees were feeling the heat from their customers, said Richard Adams of the Franchise Equity Group consultancy. “It was a huge issue for customers in the South. They put a lot of pressure on franchisees,” he said.”

Mike Huckabee on Obama’s radical views

Oct 7- Mike Huckabee discusses his views on Obama in this message to Huck Pac members:

“We are one month from the elections and as of today, the poll numbers indicate we have our work cut out for us.  Americans are angry.  VERY ANGRY.  The recent bailout controversy has only stirred the seething rage that is bubbling up among taxpayers.

The sad thing about voter anger is that it’s misdirected.  While there is plenty of blame and fault to go around for both parties, there really is hard evidence that John McCain tried in vain to get attention focused on the totally absurd lending practices of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that are at the heart of the meltdown.  Barack Obama is the second highest recipient of political cash from the big bosses of these entities, and his chief economic advisor Franklin Raines took over $90 million in bonuses from Fannie Mae.  That’s right—$90 MILLION.  Do you really think that Barack Obama will lead “reform” of a system that he has helped grease?

His radical views on when life begins and his priority of protecting abortion rights over the right to life for the unborn are beyond most of even the most extreme leftists.  His work with ACORN, a radical political organization is especially noteworthy in light of the fact that ACORN received over $760 million in “fees” from banks to help push people into “N.I.N.J.A. loans.”  (These are loans made to people with No Income; No Job; and No Assets, thus NINJA loans.)

Imagine Obama as President and Democrats holding majorities in the House and with a possible 60 vote margin Senate.

Goodbye, 2nd amendment rights.

Goodbye, protection for the unborn.

Goodbye, tax breaks.

Goodbye, diligence against state sponsored terrorism from rogue governments like Iran, North Korea, and others.

Goodbye, parental rights as a fundamental right to not be supplanted by the government.

Goodbye, holding traditional marriage as one man, one woman for life.

I’m not ready to accept that.”

I agree with Huckabee- I am not ready to accept what Obama has to offer me as President Obama.

McCain was not my first choice for presidental candidate and he is not a perfect candidate. We can moan and all we want but in the end do we want an Obama that has already shown his lack of integrity? Do we want someone we can not trust to have good judgment? Who has associations with those who hate America and attempt to do harm with vicious words and deeds?

And when we get Mr. Obama we get Mrs. Obama- two for the scary price of one. Mrs. Obama has been quiet for weeks now but she is yet another reason that I cannot accept an Obama presidency. It will be two people with influence for changing the very heart of America, two that would push for more abortion rights. I could go on but surely you get the picture.

Mike Huckabee is on target with his “goodbyes”. The question is are Americans listening?

Mike Huckabee: Trick-or-treating/bail out bill

Thought on the bail out bill by Mike Huckabee:

Dear Huck PACkers-

I wanted to write you to convey my disgust with the passing of this 451 page bailout bill. Wall Street has gone trick-or-treating in Washington a little bit early this October. Wall Street is getting the treats and America is getting tricked. The “Axis of Arrogance” has tried to pull the wool over the eyes of the Main Streeters and in doing so hid a sty full of pork in a bill whose constitutionality is questionable at best. Friends, the folks in Washington continue to treat your wallet as their tip jar and this has to stop.

Just check out a few provisions in this bill:

Sec. 211. Transportation fringe benefit to bicycle commuters

Sec. 308. Increase in limit on cover over of rum excise tax to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

Sec. 309. Extension of economic development credit for American Samoa.

Sec. 312. Deduction allowable with respect to income attributable to domestic production activities in Puerto Rico.

Sec. 317. Seven-year cost recovery period for a motorsports racing track facility.

Sec. 322. Tax incentives for investment in the District of Columbia.

Sec. 325. Extension and modification of duty suspension on wool products; wool research fund; wool duty refunds.

At a time when we are at “ground zero” and on the verge of an all out financial collapse, I am disgusted that these provisions were made.

At a time when Congress had the opportunity to do something to help the American economy, they lived up to their low approval rating. The only thing we can thank Congress for right now is that they are consistent. They are consistently spending money that doesn’t belong to them, consistently expanding pork projects, consistently doing nothing to help rebuild the American economy and consistently hurting the future of our country. Ultimately, they are consistently ignoring their own values, principles and beliefs and as a result, the American People are going to have to suffer.

Without the bailout there might have been some temporary hurt, but the long term effect will be far worse because of the precedent this bill has set and the “Bail-Aholics” it will create. Within minutes of the bill passing the state of California was already in line asking to be the next recipient of a Government hand out. We are creating an economy where you cannot fail and by doing so disabling our ability to ever truly succeed.

I am afraid this is just the beginning of the bailouts. We must not go silent into the night, we have to continue to fight and stand up against these legislators.

Iowa Voters: it is time to stand up to Harkin and Grassley. We can not let our voices be silenced by a greedy Wall Street and sell out Senators who passed this terrible trick. We can start with voting out Harkin.

VOTE FOR CHRIS REED!

The stupid, outsider Americans

When it comes to the label of “stupid”, it becomes clearer each day at this time in America it is not Democrat versus Republican, black verses white, young verses old. “Stupid” is anyone not from the East Coast or Chicago, IL.

If an American does not attend the right college, live in N.Y. City or Washington, D.C., if they have an accent or talk ‘folksy’, if they listen to Rush or watch FOX News, well, they are stupid. And clueless outsiders!

If an American calls their elected officials to voice their opinion on the Bail Out Bill, especially if they are strongly opposed to the bill, then they are stupid. The “marketing” of the bill needs to be changed so that the stupid voters will “get it”. The all-wise, been in D.C. too long Congress, knows what is best for us and hopes we will understand why they voted for pork and tax increases. Actually, most of Congress doesn’t care what the stupid American voter wants.

My failing has been that I was so busy raising a family and being in the work force that I was not paying attention. I was naive to think that my elected officials were working with my best interest in their words and actions. Wrong, wrong, wrong!

Stupid people are really Americans who have brains and better yet, have hearts. They love America and are frustrated and yes, angry, with how they are being labeled by the enlightened ones in the media and political types in Washington, D.C. Better yet, we are paying attention now. Giving us unkind labels only works to make us more vocal and intense in our outsider beliefs.

Listen to the twang in this outsider’s voice: I’m mad as all get out and I will not take your snotty ways anymore!

You could have had a… Mike Huckabee!!!!

I just heard a sound bite of McCain and the thought occurred to me once again- you and I could have had a Mike Huckabee. No, not as VP but as a Presidential candidate!!! As every hour ticks by the disappointment that I do not have the choice I want to have when I vote for President on Nov. 4 gets more intense.

Sure, the media would have gone nuts, the very liberals of the country would still be angry and mean, and the Romney supporters would have been furious.

But look what we have now- the media is tripping over themselves for a negative soundbite, the liberals are drooling over McCain/Palin, and the Romney people are working to do in Sarah Palin. What else is new?

We can’t go back and change the events that led to Mike Huckabee dropping from the race. Yet, sometimes we get what we deserve because we were too thick-headed, hard hearted, and just not seeing the big picture. This is the case with Huckabee. We could have had a much better choice for President- a clear choice instead of two candidates that, well, worry me a great deal with their views on important issues.

As the days and months go by, many of us will continue to believe that Huckabee was the very best choice. Now we are left with less than perfect options during a very challenging time to be an American. Sometimes I think that I will just have to hang on for 2012. I can and I will. Now if the country can just hang on that long.

Words about character by Mike Huckabee

More words of wisdom by Mike Huckabee in From Hope to Higher Ground on the topic of character.

“A congressional candidate was meeting with his political consultant and was asked, “Do you lie, steal, or cheat?” The aspiring congressman said, “No, but I am willing to learn!” The ultimate reason people are in prison is their lack of personal character, as evidenced by their self-centered will to break the law and violate the moral code of society.”

“To those who would argue that addressing the issue of character is not a function of government, I would respond that the lack of character has become a very expensive part of our government! That expense is evidenced by the budget of our court systems, the department of corrections, and the law enforcement agencies as well as the cost of stolen property and the increased insurance premiums to pay for replacing it.”

I find Huckabee’s words to be very timely as hour by hour Americans wait to see how the bailout mess will be fixed by the votes in Washington, D.C.

Lack of good character has gotten us in the financial “crisis” that is causing the world so much stress and anxiety. As the blame game continues, with fingers pointed at someone else, anyone else, I believe it is time for personal responsibility. Having as Huckabee says a ‘moral code’ that helps people reject the use of greed, power, and negative influence is what is needed.

It is past time to have leaders that lead and do so with character. Otherwise, America will never have enough prisons to lock up those who did not develop and keep their moral code.

Yet another reason to really know who we are electing to a city, county, state or national office. Yes, character matters. The lack of character has become detrimental to the very foundation of America.

Name calling from Nancy Pelosi: Republicans ‘very unpatriotic’

American taxpayers and voters:

Are you listening to Nancy Pelosi? Do you care that she jumped in front of the camera to declare that House Republicans are “very unpatriotic” as to not show up earlier in the week to work to pass the monster bail out bill? Unpatriotic Republicans when they were meeting as a group to come up with a better plan? Unpatriotic when they would not roll over and play dead (vote with the Democrats) just because they were being pressured to do so? Unpatriotic because they are taking more time to make the very best of a horrible situation?

When Nancy Pelosi labels the very Republicans who are working to get the unnecessary spending removed out of the bail out bill she may as well call the huge number of Americans who are calling and e-mailing their representatives ‘very unpatriotic’.

Nancy looked and sounded angry. Lots of average Americans would look and sound the same way if they got their one minute of fame in front of a gaggle of reporters. We don’t get the chance and Democrats are listening to their own voices.

John Boehner and company have my vote of confidence for what they are attempting to do. They must be as irritated as can be with Pelosi, Reid and the bunch who are trying to get their extra share for ACORN and the like.

I hope the media gives this clip of Pelosi accusing Republicans of being unpatriotic lots of air time. It shows her lack of character and leadership.  The real Pelosi showed up today.
