This page is dedicated to those Iowa Conservatives that have been judged by the Iowa Defense Alliance to have exhibited extraordinary efforts to further the principles of conservatism and freedom.
Caree Severson: Ms. Severson has earned her place on the Conservative Wall of Pride through her efforts to win a pardon for imprisoned border guards Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. Caree was an administrator in a Facebook Group with the goal of winning Ramos and Compean thier freedom. Today their efforts came to fruition as President Bush commuted the sentence of these gentlemen. Caree’s dedication and perseverance have made a difference and should serve as an inspiration to all.
Kent Sorenson: Representative Sorenson has been working hard for Iowans during his freshman year in the State House. Among the many things that he has done the most memorable was the all night Twitter party that he pulled this weekend. By now we all know of the stunt that Speaker of the House Murphy tried to pull. As a result the Republicans vowed to have someone at the State House all weekend long. Kent happened to be the one that pulled the Friday night shift. During his time at the Democrat’s slumber party Kent kept us updated via Twitter. Our hats off to Kent Sorenson as he continues to work hard for Iowa and RPI.
Chris Hagenow: Added to the Wall of Pride for the same reason as Sorenson.
Christopher Rants: Representative Rants needs to be commended for his diligence and strength in forcing a vote in the Iowa House to suspend the rules to get a marriage amendment on the ballot for Iowans to vote on in light of the Iowa Supreme Court’s opinion on Iowa’s Defense of Marriage Act. By doing this, Rants was able to get on the record who did and did not support giving Iowan’s a voice to uphold traditional marriage.
Kent Sorenson and Jason Schultz: These two freshman representatives worked hard to get a vote in the Iowa House on a marriage amendment. Sorenson has also been a prominent voice for traditional marriage at many rallies.
Randy Feenstra: Another freshman Republican but this time from the Iowa Senate. Mr. Feenstra is on the Wall of Pride because of this speech he gave on the floor of the senate demonstrating convictions and not positions when it comes to the definition of marriage and the role of the courts, and the importance of “we the people.”
Bob Vander Plaats: This man is not just a gubernatorial candidate but he has also emerged as a true leader. His latest announcement challenging Culver to honor the law of the state and issue a stay on same-sex marriages until the people can vote is more than enough to get him on the Wall of Pride.
Merlin Bartz: This state senator stood head and shoulders above the rest when he decided to go around the legislature that would not let Iowans vote on the marriage issue and constitutionally drew up a petition for citizens to sign and present to the Court Recorders to show support for them in their decision to follow Iowa’s law and not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Agreed! Caree is simply out of this world. I know very few activists of any stripe that work as hard as her
I just noticed this. I am humbled. Please understand, this is not about me. It never was. I did what I did for our heroes, border agents, Ramos and Compean. They are going home to their families in March. I look forward to the day that I meet them, shake their hands, look them in the eye and tell them thank you for doing their job and protecting me as an American Legal Citizen.
If the government enforced our immigration laws properly and would build the border fence, we wouldn’t be dealing with issues like this
The true wall of pride goes to Mr. Ramos and Mr. Compean who have been sitting in solitary confinement in prison and also to their brave families. I am blessed to have met Monica Ramos in Oct. 08 and she truly is an inspiration to me.
Special kudos to Congressman Tancredo who was the first politician to advocate to free Ramos and Compean…. God Bless him. He is a true American Patriot and I am honored and blessed to know Tom as well.
In memory of my Patriot friend Buck Young, who also led many rallies and advocated for Ramos and Compean… RIP Buck 5.5.08. Buck was a personal friend of Monica and Nacho.
Special thanks to all the Americans who called and faxed the White House daily like I did and rallied to free these two men.
God bless everyone who did what was RIGHT for Ramos and Compean.
I will forever be grateful. We all did this. Victory for Ramos and Compean.
Thank you. This is an honor.
