I am a conservative man from Marion County. I have just recently become involved in politics because I actually saw a candidate in the caucus that agreed with and that I wanted to win the nomination. After taking part in the primary/caucus process I saw the political scene from a different perspective. I saw traditional Iowa values getting thrown under the bus at our own state house. I saw that at the state level there was little difference between the Democrats and Republicans. There are a few politicians in both parties that still have values, however they are severely outnumbered. It is this reason that brings me to this particular point in time.

I am a born and raised farm kid who is a strong values voter. The 2008 presidential primary season was the first time I ever supported a candidate in every way. By doing this, I got to see that these social conservative values that I stand for are slowly being eroded away by Republicans who are more concerned with the party than their own principles. I will no longer just check the Republican box during an election. The legislature in Iowa needs to go back to the traditional values that once made this a great state. Second to none schools, strong families, respect for all human life, and a society where God is not pushed or prohibited, but instead always apparent. This is why I am here.

I am a happily married man that is unhappy with his elected officials. Because of this I decided to join the IDA as an attempt to change the direction that Iowa is headed in. You hear a lot of Democrats around the country that keep saying that the country is heading down the wrong track. I can honestly say that the State of Iowa is not only on the wrong track, but the operator of this state seem to be asleep at the wheel. I look forward to providing my political point of view to the readers of this blog.

I’m a woman who has been asleep politically most of my life. But not so fast asleep that I didn’t notice what was happening to the small state of Vermont where I lived for more than forty years. I remember the days when it was filled with hardworking, self reliant Republicans rather than dominated by people with trust funds encouraging a welfare class to hold out its hands for more. I hope Iowa does not suffer a similar fate.

I am older, wiser, and unwilling to let others make decisions for me. Faithfully showing up to vote is not enough for me any more. Watch out, establishment Republicans, I have signed up for active duty in the Iowa Brigade and will be making my views known. I have found my voice and I won’t be quiet.

Sometimes I feel like I am surrounded by Democrats. I am out to change that. It is search and find other like-minded Republicans. It is zeroing in on RINO’s! It is war!

My political life started in earnest when I heard Mike Huckabee ask Americans to “be the somebody and do the something.” Wow-those few words have gotten me fired up! Mike also said that he would “take 100,000 soldiers over 1 general any day.” So, here I am, a soldier in the Iowa Brigade. The USA is in a battle for good to prevail over evil and I have reported in for the front lines.

Raised in a strong Democratic household, I have always been interested in politics. I couldn’t wait to cast my first vote! As a small business owner and mother of four, I have become even more interested. Over the years, I have slowly switched from a strong Democrat, to an Independent, and now consider myself a strong, conservative Republican. I believe this has provided me with a solid background that allows me to see all sides and I will not vote a straight Republican ticket if I don’t feel a particular candidate deserves my vote. This past Presidential Primary has shown me that I can’t depend on the media to provide unbiased information on the candidates; that it is my responsibility to do my own research, not only at the national level, but at the state and local level as well.

I have lived in Iowa my whole life. My parents lived through the Depression of the 30s and taught me a lot of values that made this country great what it was once. And i have voted in previous elections but thats all the farther into politics i had went other than some discussions with other people. I’m a conservative and think we should spend less than what we bring in from taxes. This spending we can’t continue support. It took the election of Obama to get me more motivated and speak out for our rights. I just wish a lot more people would awaken from their sleep to see what is happening before its to late. I hope to hopefully wake someone up to what’s being done to America.

It took a candidate running for president to inspire me and motivate me to have a passion to stand up and be counted. Early on I was out of my comfort zone but now I can e-mail media outlets, candidates, and other like-minded political people and communicate how I feel and what I believe.
I love Iowa and Iowans. We are a state and a people worth fighting for. I opt for sooner rather than later for elected officials to take notice that at least one middle aged female is paying attention and talking to anyone who will listen to also be fired up and involved.
In this day and age of “customer service” I will be expecting only the best from those serving in city, county, and state offices.
I am thankful for this outlet to my political life.
I thank you for the blog/outlet. I like what I see. I found you through a link on Ted Sporer’s site. You seem to be stating the frustrations of a lot of us here in Iowa. My local party apparatus has jumped on board the Teahen train and seems to ignore his foibles “for the good of the group”. Ugh!!!!
I left the party prior to the caucuses. My republican party is hardly republican any more. It is true that the democrats are a party of tax and spend, but my party is nothing more than a party of borrow and spend. I’d rather pay as we go, as I do in my own household. My party turns a blind eye to the erosion of state’s rights. My party stabs it’s own members in the back when members stray a little to far to the middle. Let’s just slaughter each other and let the democrats continue to lead. Do we really think that to be Americans we must all think exactly alike, or is there room in our great land for a bit of difference??
Marvin, I know that not everyone is going to think alike. However there are certain issues are black and white. Abortion is one of those issues. Americans are supposed to protect innocent life, with each abortion that is administered an innocent life is taken.
I check in on what your group has to say after finding your site on Hucksarmy.com.
Keep up the good work- America needs more citizens who will stand up for conservative issues and put up a strong fight for what is important now and for future generations.
I am so thankful that I found your site. Thanks for your efforts to highlight candidates and issues of concern for Americans.
I will be faithful to check in and hope that others, especially Iowans who want to be informed, check in as well.
I have known some wonderful Republicans over the years that assisted me in being treated equally and help me get a fair shot in government contracting, that was not here in Iowa. I have not gotten acquainted with many Republicans here in Iowa with the exception of one very nice neighbor. You have a great venue going here I wish you all the best. You have a lot of work ahead of you to get this current mess turned around. I know if you stand on truth and seek justice you will succeed. I tell you what a dear man told me years ago, “Big wheels move slow.” Do not give up, keep the faith in the only place it truly belongs (with God) and press forward.
