I am a 20 year veteran of the criminal justice system with a Bachelors degree in criminal justice. I have seen to many politicians and this includes individuals who run for County Attorney and Sheriff, that have put their personal views ahead of the citizens of their jurisdiction. Too many politicians put their personal views ahead of what's best for "we the people." This must stop. I currently am a licensed private investigator in the State of Iowa and have the need for a concealed weapons permit for my business but in the County where I live, the Sheriff seems to be stone walling me with lies. He has been saying for going on six weeks saying that he "needs more time to read the statute." Well busy or not more than five weeks is too much time to have to look up something that should be readily available. I am glad the state has changed the law, but having to wait until I either take the Sheriff to court or the first of the year, is too long since it is costing me money. I believe that an elected official who is slow to conform needs to be replaced on the next election. I will be running for his job next election and use the Second Amendment as the vocal point. I have not gotten acquainted with many Republicans here in Iowa with the exception of one very nice neighbor. You have a great venue going here I wish you all the best. You have a lot of work ahead of you to get this current mess turned around. I know if you stand on truth and seek justice you will succeed. I tell you what a dear man told me years ago, "Big wheels move slow." Do not give up, keep the faith in the only place it truly belongs (with God) and press forward. My republican party is hardly republican any more. It is true that the democrats are a party of tax and spend, but my party is nothing more than a party of borrow and spend. I'd rather pay as we go, as I do in my own household. My party turns a blind eye to the erosion of state's rights. My party stabs it's own members in the back when members stray a little to far to the middle. Let's just slaughter each other and let the democrats continue to lead. Early on I was out of my comfort zone but now I can e-mail media outlets, candidates, and other like-minded political people and communicate how I feel and what I believe. I love Iowa and Iowans. We are a state and a people worth fighting for. I opt for sooner rather than later for elected officials to take notice that at least one more person is paying attention and talking to anyone who will listen to also be fired up and involved. In this day and age of "customer service" I will be expecting only the best from those serving in city, county, and state offices. I am thankful for this outlet to my political life.
